I've always wondered why death is so immediate in fantasy novels with such powerful healing skills. I mean sure if the head is utterly destroyed that would be one thing, but as long as there is no brain damage and the "soul" is still intact, isn't it more a case of just restarting their heart before the brain is damages from lack of oxygenated blood?

Wouldn't it be the other way around? The less immediate damage is to someone, the easier it would be to heal. So you'd need something strong and fast to actually kill someone.

Purely from a technical standpoint, "shock" is what kills people almost all the time. For practical reasons, we tend to correlate the cause of death with what caused that shock, which often is blood loss or disruption of blood flow when it comes to injuries.

Because since souls exist, if someone takes fatal damage, the soul could leave the body and pass on. Think same way as those mental attacks where if you die in the dream world you die in the real world. Same thing. The shock causes your soul to dissipate from the body

He has party view and can see HP. If he's watching for exp notifications, he's most certainly checking that Dogora is still in his party.

30% stats AND dogora taking out half his arms. Just Helmios' skill was enough to kill him, having everyone else's made it impossible to block.

Yes and no. What I'm talking about are settings where injuries can be fully healed in a short period of time. Even without resurrection type magic all that should be needed is for the heart to be restarted and for the individual to regain consciousness. It's not even uncommon IRL. Many lives are saved by CPR and or defibrillators. So stands to reason if the body gets fully healed and it's not too long since they were incapacitated, it shouldn't be to hard to restart the body the same way.

I could understand if the setting logic dictated that the God of Death claimed souls immediately upon death would make CPR and resuscitation impossible. But if not, why should it be automatically assumed modern life saving techniques would fail?
