I really liked this chapter. I saw the whole seal trick and fingerprint revelation coming from a mile away but I didn't expect Kaldus to not be just an arrogant keikaku master outsmarting nearly everyone till he fucks up at the end but rather an oportunist put in a really bad situation by a mix of his own greed/ambition and some shit luck who was just trying to save his own ass. The conflict of the story wasn't the work of a genius trying to manipulate everyone, it was more like the desperate strokes of a drowning man. It shines a new light into the whole thing and destroys the illusion of cunning, power and control that Kaldus spent the whole story trying to project in a much more satisfying way that "smug asshole makes one little mistake in his perfect plan and gets fucked".}
Loren's pain regarding Aidra was also a beautiful thing to see. Through the whole story I had the feeling he didn't seem to feel particularly emotional about the princess and her fate, other than some subtle grief, but now we get to see that it wasn't that he was old and "wise" enough to treat that whole thing in a calm way but rather that he was holding back all the grief and fury inside of him and acting as if he was okay with it. I doubt he will do anything to Kaldus but watching him finally break and unleash all those pent-up feelings will surely be great.
What an amazing story.
