There's one thing I feel like getting off my chest: Hibiki herself, her towering talent, is unrealistic as all get out. I don't mind--I mean, that's the premise, and I'm willing to go with an unrealistic premise if they do good things with it, which they are. But that doesn't happen . . . there are musical prodigies and prodigies of various other kinds, but as far as I know there's no such thing as prodigies who write literary-award-winning novels (admittedly we don't actually know yet whether Hibiki's will win, but it's been made pretty clear it deserves to). Particularly not borderline autistic ones. Literary-award-winning novels require things like subtlety, finesse, erudition, deep knowledge of human character and interactions and society. It doesn't matter how smart they are, fifteen year olds, particularly ones with problems interacting with people, do not have the richness of experience to draw on. So Hibiki isn't just a magnificent exception to the rule, she's basically impossible.
Given her existence, I'm really quite happy and impressed with the way this manga has the world reacting to her, and I find her awkward and often savage personality fascinating. I'm just saying.
