Archduke is still an extremely high rank outside of his territory, only the King can order him around, not even the Crown Prince or other Dukes can touch him.

Archduke was the title born from 1358 by the Habsburg rulers of the Archduchy of Austria, and later by all senior members of that dynasty. It denotes a rank within the former Holy Roman Empire, which was below that of Emperor, and roughly equal to King, but above that of a Grand Duke, Sovereign Prince, and Duke.

Ferdinand is gonna drill her about this very soon - complete with what shenanigans this progression brought (spread of info, propaganda, etc.)

In hindsight, seeing Sylvester's shenanigans really makes Ehrenfest's situation understandable. He really is a bull charging through a china shop.
If I'm reading it correctly in the LN, Main knows exactly the consequences of inventing printing press, she just doesn't give a shit as long as she got books.

It isn't that they don't bother to teach her, the problem is the discrepancy in their upbringing. Most nobles aren't brought up by their parents but by their retainers. So most of the stuff isn't things high nobility ever considers. It is just the basics everyone should know

On top of that, Myne has knowledge of being an adult, so on the surface she just seems like someone who knows what they are doing but just a bit eccentric. But since she wasn't brought up by nobility, little things fall through the cracks

I wouldn't go that far, most will start learning to read in the playroom at 10 years old if they didn't earlier. Then they will go to the academy at 12.

But yes the issue was that unbaptized children younger than 7 knowing to read when many lower nobility still can't read well at 10

that’s certainly fair. There’s a common sense gap between Myne and basically everyone in this world.

myne is a Japanese girl

but she’s also a commoner

a merchant

a priestess.

shes all of those things and the blurring/overlap between them gives her a completely foreign pov to everyone. thats A big theme of this series and so it makes sense that being given a rushed nobles education wouldn’t give her the common sense of a noble. It had to already compete with every other world view in her head. Not to mention that book obsession.

I'm starting to get mad for Myne. 😭 She's in trouble every other chapter for stuff that's not actually her fault, or she couldn't have known was a problem. Spare her the lecture!

Then again, nobody ever bothers to learn that she can easily be kept under control... With B.O.O.K.S.

Like seriously, just dump her in the library and have her attendants care for her food and heat and whatnots. Bam, you have successfully tamed Myne, at no additional cost.
Books are expensive tho. ( for now at least )

Based on the various spoiler comments

ohh, so all nobles are literally brain dead. Being barely capable of coherent thought sure explains a lot.
