Ferdinand trying his best to hold-in his impulses as a noble, to outright punish the mayor directly, while also using this situation as an opportunity to teach Myne more about the attitude a noble should have is great.

The line should be about "earning points" from Ferdinand by promoting her Saint legend, which is one of the targets of Ferdinand to reinforce Myne's position as the Adopted Daughter of the Lord.

I don't remember if the tasks are explicitly stated but in short high priest handles day-to-day operations of temple while high bishop handles ceremonies.

They're playing a role at the moment. The 'Ferdinand' faction here wants to wipe out the town and all inhabitants (The traditional noble response). She's creating an 'opposing' more tolerant noble faction (to further her saintly status) that only wants to punish those directly involved (The mayor and his inner circle).
The 'mayor' and 'anti-mayor' factions are commoner factions within Hasse

The High Bishop has the highest status in the temple and ultimately is in charge. The High Priest is the administrative head who handles the day to day tasks. Since Rozemyne is still underage, Ferdinand does some of her High Bishop work and she in turn assists with his High Priest administrative work as his calculator.

IIRC, another euphemism that was used with that other character was "distanced". Which meant... what? That he'd been fired? Just ordered to be elsewhere when dealing with Myne? It also took a while for the shoe to drop.

I noticed that it's a relatively common euphemism in japan but a really uncommon one in english speaking countries, so i had a hell of a time trying to find a common, equivalent euphemism in english that could also be confused for retirement by someone who'd never heard it. thankfully my mom came thru with one she heard all her life in the southern US :3

"Bought the farm" could be roughly equivalent, although that one's so ingrained in English that it might confusion among readers as to why the mayor didn't understand.

At this point, I didn’t understand the implication and was like “A BLUE PRIEST IS A NOBLE”

Until further into the story that I get to understand how different they’re. And I blame the civil war that returns blue priests back to the noble society, blurring their definition to me, the reader.

Honestly I think it's fine to leave it as it originally was, after all the noble euphemisms ARE meant to be foreign so that even Myne herself is confused about their meanings at times.

Also I believe her hiring soldiers is only for escorting the greys (from the monastery) back, since there's no blue priest living there.

It gets better when sometimes SHE pulls the bad-cop and Ferdinand has to be the one holding her back because he knows she's not acting in those cases.
