Lucky you then, I remember those growing pains on my legs when I was a pre-teen. It is literally your bones breaking themselves and healing at the same time so you can grow taller.
Edit: as some others already mentioned, he was really sick, my growing pains weren't like that though, but some days were harder than most.

Still, it sounds like he just didn't see sense for 4 years and I doubt his growth spurt was that long. I'm guessing there were other mental/psychological barriers at play there. Sense of shame for giving up (i believe he played baseball to mold himself into sense's ideal man), Lack of self worth over his weakness.

Growth spurt clearly paid off tho lol. How he was swatting away women for years shows his true fortitude.

Yeah true. I guess that's why I get to this point on why this chapter felt like it had less meat. Not just because it had less pages. It was more about MC telling (a piece of) his reason to Sensei that the audience knew. And the audience still knows more afterwards anyway.
