the best thing MC could do in a legal point is not have sex with her, still could have abduction and wrongful imprisonment slapped on but that would be far easier to fight than rape (whether it was consensual or not would still be considered rape since shes a minor).

So I've done some legit research and basically even though the age of consent id 13 years old in japan some major prefectures in japan (most especially prefectures with major cities) has made it illegal to have sexual activities with somone below 18 so, technically speaking if they live in one of those prefectures (most likely because of the businesses and restaurants around the area) if blondie ass reports it to the police he would most likely be more in trouble than our boy here (just saying)

@oniisanbomber To be fair, this is an exceptionally challenging topic to write about for an author. If this was taking place in the past, let's say 100 years, it would be barely anything strange with the far less developed society and pretty much nothing in the way of social security, but in modern times the setting itself goes against our and the society's general concept of logic, so it's quite a burden for the author to convince the audience this is sensible. At least it looks like the story won't make the fuckboy start blackmailing them or anything, which would be still more illogical, seeing how he would expose himself, so there are small good details in the story.

@odannyc85 I doubt he would get slapped with criminal charges. You aren't abducting and imprisoning a person who would deny any such thing and who even had a regular job out there. Nobody could prove any blackmailing either, to keep her in check. It also helps she's already high school age as she wouldn't be considered a witless child anymore by the officials. I've said it before, but the MC dude's worst likely fate is to get his reputation damaged despite not getting judged guilty of anything by the law. Japan's an East Asian country, so a person's face and reputation means a whole lot. He could be fired from his job simply because the company would fear unwanted attention. Although that being said, if it becomes a police matter and Yoshida is arrested, his fate could be sealed. The Japanese police is obsessed with turning every arrested person into a criminal, whether they are actually guilty of anything or not. Guilty until proven innocent, and all that. So, as long as no cops are directly involved, just some child welfare officials, he might survive just fine.

Amazing how the author could write the dialogue for this chapter, especially the bad guy and not want to commit sudoku from the cringe
