@oniisanbomber To be fair, this is an exceptionally challenging topic to write about for an author. If this was taking place in the past, let's say 100 years, it would be barely anything strange with the far less developed society and pretty much nothing in the way of social security, but in modern times the setting itself goes against our and the society's general concept of logic, so it's quite a burden for the author to convince the audience this is sensible. At least it looks like the story won't make the fuckboy start blackmailing them or anything, which would be still more illogical, seeing how he would expose himself, so there are small good details in the story.
@odannyc85 I doubt he would get slapped with criminal charges. You aren't abducting and imprisoning a person who would deny any such thing and who even had a regular job out there. Nobody could prove any blackmailing either, to keep her in check. It also helps she's already high school age as she wouldn't be considered a witless child anymore by the officials. I've said it before, but the MC dude's worst likely fate is to get his reputation damaged despite not getting judged guilty of anything by the law. Japan's an East Asian country, so a person's face and reputation means a whole lot. He could be fired from his job simply because the company would fear unwanted attention. Although that being said, if it becomes a police matter and Yoshida is arrested, his fate could be sealed. The Japanese police is obsessed with turning every arrested person into a criminal, whether they are actually guilty of anything or not. Guilty until proven innocent, and all that. So, as long as no cops are directly involved, just some child welfare officials, he might survive just fine.
