The attitude shift was with the time Rose met with Benika's father.

The sudden contact with a stranger/target (from church/babylon pov respectively) raised alarm on them.

At first they chose brute force, but then Rose just flip the table on the fight so both side opt for softer method.

But then Gina let her personal feelings get in the way and Hibai decided two can play at that game and now Benika say they're gonna gay.

Except the whole point of them having that little conversation was to let those to listen in so...
