I think that either
A) she entered a contract to gain legs. The price would be her ability to be with the one she loved if the contract was destroyed. The contract was stored in the ball thing he shot at their place.

B) she was using the thing to hide. Now that it is broken, she cant hide. It seems like she joined the company and might have tried to ransom herself or was held for ransome to try and steal money from the other merpeople.

Checked the raw translation "their love" is correct. Now onto the "my assumption" part

The orb didnt just took away her love, it also took away the guy's love. But since she made her way into his place, she kept her memories about him and wanted to make him fall in love with her again. Judging by the guy's startled face when she transformed back into mermaid, he probs have no idea and just think of her as one of his criminal underlings.

But the only reason he fell in love with her in the first place was her saving his life. So now when they met he doesnt give a shit about her at all. She used her father as a bargain chip to gain his attention.

Our MC probs demanded the Orb as compensation for his stolen shit. They gave it up to him only for him to destroy it. The "curse is gone", she transformed back into mermaid and the two regained their love for eachother and they are now happily ever after albeit still being criminals.

Father fishman is grateful that her daughter is doing well, but he will probably never accept her back into his family for extorting him. But the heroine of this story probs wont care since she got her prince charming riding on a cart of white powder now.

@criver The problem is that his guns are far more advanced than the guns of their world, and they stand out. That's why he demonstrated on the meat. To show the drastic improvement of usability. I do not think their world has 'self contained' ammunition yet. As they noted that they're still using black powder. And his justification was not "It'll start a war" but "I can't protect the technology" in other words the real problem is, people will see it and -want- it for war and come after him for it.(MC is strongly against war though either way) Look at how much trouble was caused already over his gear. Just think how much more there will be when people see it in action. Having all that gear is dangerous to him, because people will kill him to get it.Honestly he probably could've kept one or two guns for himself to use, but that would still draw attention to himself, and after dealing with this nonsense he probably just wants to be done with the attention so he went with nothing instead of what he could manage.

@WillLi Let's assume for a moment that you are correct. Then all the more reason NOT to get rid of his guns - because for all he knows now everybody is out to get him - believing he has guns - so rip. In case nobody's planning to go after him because they are scared of his guns, then this begs the question - why would he throw them away? At the end of the day, if you do not blatantly make a show out of your superior tech (as he did in this and the previous chapter for unknown reasons except to just flex), you probably want to hold onto your advantage - in the case that you need it.
