Either:

• Orihara sees what she's missing out on, affecting her performance. It can be positive (because she knew what she was getting into when she dedicated herself to the sport) or negative (because she actually wants romance).
• She throws the match to not feel guilty, with Nagatoro getting angry at her.
• She wins and feels guilty, and Nagatoro goes to encourage her. And then we have to wait AGAIN for their confession.

Great set up chapter, as usual. That hug was even better than the one we got in the anime. The anime hug had no such a buildup, neither such emotion. This one, although you could argue that it's not a full hug, is both a "thank you" and a "I depend on you" and "I feel safe with you" all at once.

On another note, for some reason I really hope Orihara meets Machida, or the second lifting up emotionally the first. Their backstory is pretty similar, in terms of devotion to success, so if Machida learned her lesson first, it would be great to help Orihara too.

Nope, Orihara has been feeling the closeness of Nagatoro and Senpai's relationship and how it's been the catalyst for her resurgence in Judo, and she don't like it one bit.

You know She's thinking, "all those years I struggled to surpass her and just as I'm on the cusp of Elite greatness, here she comes waltzing back into my nightmares, but now with this wooly-haired beanpole of a Senpai she's got wrapped around her finger, he's fueling her passion for the sport, and worse, she wants revenge for my beating her. I can't have that..."

The hard working girl who sacrificed her time into her judo vs the naturally talented girl who fallen off, quit, has a romcom life and decided to get back to judo. On papers, I would support the former, but I'm just rooting on Nagatoro, because I'm simply invested in her (and her love life with paisen).
Also I'm glad paisen made it clear win or lose this, it's not the end. They can still move on.

He paralleled what she told him, things didn't go as he had hoped for but the fact he made to where he finished in the exam was amazing nonetheless. She's gone a long way from that second-round loss at the school tournament just six months ago(timeline wise) and win or lose here, she's done more in that period of time than anyone would have ever dreamt.

I think these two kids are going to be alright...

Awesome set up chapter. It's really nice to see these moments between the two. The hug was precious, but man Orihara seems to be harboring some potentially unhealthy feelings about this rivalry.

It sucks that there will be a three week break after this, but this is lining up for there to be potentially something really nice on Christmas...

Ch. 141 -> Dec 11th
Ch. 142 -> Christmas chapter!

Chapter 142 would be a nice number for a confession, eh? That's my prediction for now. Let's go Nanashi, cook up a gourmet meal for us to close out the year.

We went through something similar back around February when the stars aligned and we got chapters on both Valentine's Day and White Day. I think we could definitely see a Confession for Christmas.
