What I’m seeing is more like a little kids interpretation of good and evil…

I think that the Girl has been sheltered beyond belief her whole life while being surrounded by yes people (or atleast the people around her become yes people), that’s why the “Saint” can’t fathom Liz (MC) disagreeing with her as she believes the she is NEVER wrong.

The “saint” NEEDS a naysayer lest she literally destroys her country from within and out with her naïveté.

Edit: I got the names mixed up, Liz is (“The Saint”) and Alicia is the (MC).
