1959 was a very good year for jazz albums; in that group was bassist Charles Mingus's first release on Columbia, Mingus Ah Um (the title being a joke on the presumed Latin conjugations of his last name). The opening track, "Better Git It In Your Soul", complete with his exclamations:
bro's name is Mingus. kid named Mingus. Mingus ahh album. i don't think i'm very particular towards 'main event' jazz songs that demand your attention like this one. if i owned a jazz club like Sebastian from La La Land, i suppose i'd play this. but in the car? in the shower? while my child is being born? not so sure. regardless, i was surprised at how quickly the song seemed to fly by despite it being over 7 minutes. 7.2/10.

So, you don't like grunge or metal? Well, they're my bread and butter. I'll try to keep that in mind, but eventually I'll recommend some of these genres 😓

my inner demons are screaming... there's no escape... i must release my rage at this world, lest i drown in it. i must show this fucked up society how i feel about it. the more transgressive, the better. i'll transmit my emotional scars into physical form. the traumas i've been unjustly subjected to cannot be cleansed, they will continue to haunt me until the day i die...

4.3/10.

1.2/10, the world would be an objectively better place if Chainsaw Man ate the devil of whatever music genre this is

I noticed a good way to listen to all the tracks posted on this thread is to create a playlist with this.
https://playlists.at/youtube/
Maybe @bigtiddyoneesan can even create a playlist link in the thread. :nyoron:
out of only the good songs, you mean? perhaps. i've never made a youtube playlist before and it seems kind of daunting.

6.5/10, the original is better. i do like the SnK artwork in the vid though.

6.8/10

Released in the summer of 1965, the Righteous Brothers' cover of Unchained Melody is probably the best known version of the song today. Despite the credits, Phil Spector had nothing to do with the production of the song - that was handled by Bill Medley, who was the Brother who didn't sing the song - Bobby Hatfield won a coin toss for the privilege of singing it.
