One one hand, I'm flabbergasted by the tone shift of this manga. Last chapter I was took by surprise but expected a "simple" love rival drama. Now we are in another kind of drama, one way more serious, creepy and depressing.
And yeah, it feel cheap. Coming out of nowhere. I was expecting some sad backstory, not "Implied sexual assault/domestic violence and spiraled down in prostitution" kind of backstory. FFS a female character does not get to have rape or shit like that added to get interesting....

Author, what the fuck? I kinda feel cheated. Baited into this.


On the other hand, holy shit some comments here are disapointing. People, I can understand that some of you are angry, but can we not say that the girl who's life was so shitty she started doing "compensated dating" that she deserves it or stuff like that? Fictional story or not, please, let's be decents humans beings.

People are really not fine with betrayals. I think at the core of the outrage it's not about tonal shift, romance, who Yuu likes, who was first, etc. It's about a pure girl, who trusted and confided in her best friend and then witnessed that trust being trampled on. If Yuu was actually in love with the other girl all along, and he was the initiator, then people would likely have a much milder reaction.

And now the readers are presented with a sad backstory for a character who is already, in their eyes, an "irredeemable backstabbing bitch". The less mature part of the audience will naturally react with massive overcorrection by hating her even more. Because having a hard life doesn't justify you being a PoS friend.

My problem is not people pissed at the character. My problem is people saying the character deserves the worst part of said shitty life for the betrayal.

It’s all about execution. Onani Master Kurosawa is a manga with wild tonal shifts where you care for, quite honestly, not very sympathetic characters and watch them grow on you.

This? This is just silly and random Drama Ex Machina that handles the characters in most off-putting way possible. Especially since there was not a lick of buildup that lead us tho this point in the story.

Im having so much fun seeing people trashing this manga in the comment. Definitely gonna keep reading this manga to see how can the author and yom cooking some more stuff or maybe they gonna add fuel to the fire even more. Also can't wait for them to turn back to sweet and fluffy again, Maybe they will introduce a new guy that'll solve all aya's problem.
