No further indication she was being abused, nor the sob story I expected so this means the author isn't trying to make Aya some kind of sympathetic rival. She's an outright villain in Hikari's story who's trying to defile the male lead after she decided to defile herself last chapter by attempting to engage in sugar dating with random men. TBF there's no indication she actually succeeded at compensated dating, but what's clear is that she's not offering to comfort him out of love or the goodness of her heart.
He's just a snack to make herself feel better about her current crappy life.
