Love WA2. The way Kazusa held back her love until she gave into passion to such an extent that she pushed Haruki's phone off the bed knowing Setsuna was trying to call him was beautiful. Then her barely being able to walk straight the next morning after their night of love was the icing on the cake. Setsuna knew Haruki was in love with her. Pic related was sad and beautiful at the same time. Sometimes you just lose at love.

With the whole 'Light' and 'Dark' theme of the story, I really hope she can move past the edginess so we can start liking her as the second FeMC and maybe even root for her.

... but the latest novel chapter makes me doubt she's gonna turn wholesome :meguuusad:

Yeah, I’ve made up my mind.
I’ll choose him.

...The one I’ll take my "revenge" on.

"Let’s go to a second round after this?"
"It’s getting late..."
"This time, I’ll heal not just your heart, but your body too."
"...What?"

I’m going to hurt him.
Completely ruin him.
I’ll leave him with a scar that’ll never heal.

...

...

Matsushita Ayami. A fool who couldn’t move up to the second year after a full year in school.
...And I’ll ruin this guy’s innocence.
It looks like that plan turned out about the same for her as it did for Masemune-kun.

Lmao, the male MC was screwing Yami while being "in love" with his childhood friend the whole time and people are still in the comments like "It's fine, he loves the female MC so who cares about this girl". The male MC is a piece of shit too lmao.
He failed, he gave up. There was never any actual romantic relationship between those two, though, so it's tough for me to see him as a bad guy for accepting a bit of consolation (especially not knowing what he was really in for).

Mangaka is straight up taking the NTR route
Reminder there was nothing at that point to NTR. He had vague feelings of "catching up" and "standing next" to his osananajimi, maybe as equals, maybe eventually as partners, we really don't know. She didn't start thinking of him as anything more than that for at least another year.

I actually think that is the point. The author doesn’t want the audience to like her. Which is the whole “light” and “dark” thing where one girl represents light and the other represents dark.

Anyway, I do wonder where the author is going with this. This chapter points out he likes his childhood friend our first FMC which could lead to us going back to the present where she is kissing him and him pushing her away. Maybe because she experienced the dark with Yami he appreciates the light of Hikari more as a result.
I hope so

By this point, the only way this nuclear dumpster fire can be redeemed is if, at the end of the arc, back in the present, Yuu pushes Ayami away, tells her to fuck off, and loudly proclaims his love for Hikari.

Yup, it's just bad storytelling.

It's okay to shift tones or even present some edgy content. Just make it believable, logical and foreshadowing.

But no, author went full retard just because. It's his story, of course. But it's my time and I'm simply dropping this title. Not because the tonal shift but because the execution is simply cheap, rushed and badly written.
There was some very subtle foreshadowing, things that this girl said etc, but I feel like the overall themes of a series must stay consistent. To radically change them requires tremendous skill as an author, and even then, it's hit or miss. Ultimately, works like these are for audience enjoyment and a rugpull tonal change from wholesome to dark (borderline ntr) is just not gonna sit well with the readers lol.
