There are more than 1 type of abuse / sexual abuse. Rape part was all in your head and now you are getting angry over it.So she wasn't raped... this bitch has been lying for sympathy this entire time. And just when I thought she had an alright character and was liking her.
Just be upfront and say you don't like how the plot went, not that he's any less of a character for succumbing to natural biologic imperatives.
100%. The series rating would have been nuked if the genders were reversed. Granted though, the overall reaction ive seen to the ex-boyfriend reveal has been pretty negative. If this Arc was about the main girl losing her V card yall would lose your shit but nah since its the male MC so its love triangle instead.
My response is, whatever the author was trying to do doesn't work. Quite simply. I can think of a variety of ways they could've shown a lot whilst still in the perspective of the FL without overtly screaming into your face about what was really going on in the background. The reason I'm still sticking around is curiosity. Other than that, I have no attachment to any of these characters as the author, the writer more specifically, had portrayed the story in a way that makes me not really care about what happens next.
Generally, most of my complaints are about the purpose of this arc. "Well, it can make the characters more honest" or something like that but everything has already happened, two of our characters has already gone through their character arcs and the FL having her character arc now is similar to someone barking at a brick wall. The characters have seemingly already decided between each other, there is no where else this could go unless either, somehow, they break it off and the FL somehow fills in the gap (Which isn't exactly the most morally just thing to do as you're essentially exploiting someone's vulnerability) or the main character learns from this and we get a half-assed ending about how she moved on with some random joe shmoe which is a less than satisfactory ending. Or, the devious option where she somehow steals the main character making the FL a heavily hateable protagonist.
So I question what the purpose is here cause my argument doesn't end with me not caring for the characters. Also, in general, "Why are you still reading" or something like is cause-- I'm too far in brother this happens with every train wreck.
It's unrealistic. How many times have u been touched by ur step dad and then decided to sleep with a stranger? How many love hotels have u gone too at 17? How many people have u manipulated because something when wrong in your home life? Yami chooses not to get the help she needs and throws herself at a stranger to feel something this is the behavior of a bad person not a realistic romance. None of what I said has been because my sexual escapades have been barren it's because I'm not bad person.
Whether its the point or not makes no difference, you're forgetting that he was working his ass off to get into Hikari's school because he LIKES her. All of this makes no sense and is really poorly written. Its literally just rage bait with no substance at this point and anyone thinking its anything deeper than that is just coping.
That's your opinion mate, not a fact. I think it worked just fine, even if it split the reader base into enjoyers and whiners. My response is, whatever the author was trying to do doesn't work.
Lmao, what? You're contradicting yourself. If you're curious, that means you care about what happens next. The reason I'm still sticking around is curiosity. [...] makes me not really care about what happens next.
The purpose of this arc is exploring Ayami's POV and setting up for the central conflict of the story - the love triangle of two friends loving the same guy.Generally, most of my complaints are about the purpose of this arc.
What?there is no where else this could go
FUCK, I wish people would stop calling everything they personally dislike 'trash' or a 'trainwreck.'I'm too far in brother this happens with every train wreck.
Everyone did because it didn't happen. Yuu thought he failed when he didn't get into Hikari's school and didn't confess. Hikari has spent the past few months working up to a confession that may or may not go forward once we exit this flashback arc. At no time have those two been on the same page (as far as they know). What chapter did hikari turn him down I must've missed it.
I can understand it being disappointing, on my end I found out "reading" it backwards, so I already knew there would be a black haired girl and some mature scenes. That's the issue though, when did you find it? Where you able to read up to the point of chapter 20 without waiting for 7 to 8 months to get there? Because that's where most people were, and why a huge betrayal was felt by a lot of people. The pace is so slow and they've been into the story for almost a year for this to happen.
The purpose of this arc is exploring Ayami's POV and setting up for the central conflict of the story - the love triangle of two friends loving the same guy.
How did they meet, fall in love, and why did they break up? Was it because of Hikari?
How did Yuu become the man that Hikari eventually fell for?
What happened in the classroom, why did she slap and then kiss him?
It's the story of the girl who was too late, and the girl who loved him when she had nothing else.
How will Hikari react?
Will she confess regardless? Double down on her efforts? Resign and give up? Seek love somewhere else?
What about her friendship with Ayami? What about their friend group?
How will Ayami act when she knows that Hikari saw them?
She still has feeling for Yuu. Will she try to go back into a relationship with him or does she value her friendship with Hikari more than her love for Yuu? She did try to distance herself from him after all, but kissed him in heat of the moment.
What about the guy in question? Does he like his childhood friend he’s always admired, or his ex-gf who made him the person Hikari fell in love with in the first place?
FUCK, I wish people would stop calling everything they personally dislike 'trash' or a 'trainwreck.' It's so fucking tiring, especially when it's actually a good story written by someone who knows what they're doing.
He did write one of the best-received Visual Novels of all time, after all...
It's garbage, and we all know it too.Why do I bother to continue reading this
I don't think Maruto is attempting to make her likeable by giving her have tragic backstory, something that we saw a glimpse of in Hikari's arc. It accentuates how much a bitch she's trying to be when she's narrating and contrasts her that much more to Hikari. The first genuinely likeable moment for her was in this chapter when she tells herself that she will regret letting Yuu leave and stops him. If you couldn't tell that Aya would fall in love with Yuu at some point in this arc, after she kissed him and narrated that he was her ex-boyfriend in chapter 21, then I'm not actually sure you're even reading this story. The cliffhanger is most likely her menhera moment, don't forget she slapped him before kissing him. From what I've looked up, the author has mostly written light novels and eroge, so YA is most likely the demographic he's aiming for with this series. I wonder if you had the same issues with his writing in this series before chapter 21.By breaking the flow of the story.
Trying to make a questionable character likeable in a very heavy-handed fashion. (this doesn't apply if you liked her before, but to people who were neutral their opinion probably turned the other way)
We don't need to learn the entire story of her life to know what happened in the classroom.
Anyways, why did it need to be this edgy? Because he decided to name the characters Hikari and Ayami? Pffft.
Maaaaaan. I wish we could learn all that but we're getting cockblocked by a flashback that keeps hitting the same keys. Back in chapter 22~23 multiple people could guess already she would fall in love for real and things would turn out like this.
I even made a post guessing this shit like many others - https://forums.mangadex.org/threads...h-23-how-foolish.1891581/page-3#post-22872501
He also wrote Engage Kiss. Damekoi was very divisive. Because someone did something right once it doesn't mean everything they do is right. You could go into any bookstore, pick a YA novel at random and land on something written better than this manga.
Yeah idk what the guy I replied to was talking about.Everyone did because it didn't happen. Yuu thought he failed when he didn't get into Hikari's school and didn't confess. Hikari has spent the past few months working up to a confession that may or may not go forward once we exit this flashback arc. At no time have those two been on the same page (as far as they know).
Which is why I ask who has this happened to because if it doesn't happen it's unrealistic. Ik a girl who had something similar happened she got help the guy is in jail and no stranger boy she had just was manipulated. Her actions aren't realistic. She decides out of all options let's manipulate a boy I've met twice. Can you believe that shit would ever happen? Selling yourself on the streets at 17 because of home life is the most realistic part of it and she didn't even actually do that. She had sex with a random boy she met who was pitiful instead of bettering her situation. Unrealistic as hell.Just because it's never happened to you or someone you know, doesn't make it less "realistic". But staying within the confines of the story, Aya doesn't feel she has anyone to rely on and is still a teenager. Her biological dad is dead, her stepdad tried to molest her, her mother supposedly doesn't care, her teacher is more worried about her tuition, and her classmates don't like her. A total stranger would be more likely to help out than the people she knew. She tried doing enko to presumably strike it out for herself and not rely on her parents. In her own eyes, she lucked out when she found Yuu instead.
He got rejected from that school, which validated his inferiority complex. He wasn't anywhere close to her, and we've seen from Hikari's perspective that she didn't think of him romantically when they were in middle school. His feelings in all respects were one-sided, and the rejection was solid proof. Most of this was laid out in the summer festival chapter, and the previous chapter confirmed that's what he thought at the time of him applying. It's not that much of leap to think that he wanted to be comforted by someone who, on the outside, seemed pretty friendly and into hihim.
Surely this chapter won't impact the ratings (6.74 at time of typing this) any further & the comments won't exceed the record that chapter 21 has (438 comments at the moment & I'm actually impressed with that number)… right everyone? I don't want to be that guy but Yuu is not even going out with Hikari plus he's a teenager so what else can you expect besides that devoted guy trope that ends up feeling creepy. Doesn't mean this makes her any better than she was before but hey Yuu got laid as a result of his kindness. Thanks for the translations.
