Why not? Is it somehow allowed for a romcom to move at a stupidly slow pace with no progress, permanent status quo and repeated failed confessions? Where even readers laugh every time the heroine says "this time I am definitely confessing!"?
Which is exactly what's happening right now.
But that's exactly the problem. The bar for romcoms is so low and people are so used to no stake romcoms with nothing happening that they were completely happy with:
- Pacing (3 pages per 2 weeks chapters before were good but 8 pages per 2 weeks now are awful)
- Writing (compare the comments for ch 13 which were praising the writing and comments now saying author can't write for his life)
- Ignoring every single hint the author was giving them (I know that's a hindsight, but looking back everyone was really interpreting Yuu's evasive attitude and words all in favor of him actually being deeply in love with Hikari)
And now that the drama kicked in, their fun romcom suddenly became awfully written, terribly paced and just boring, even though these recent chapters are the most eventful since the start and even though they are actually doing what readers were demanding - exposition.
