I can understand a character like Yami who is rotten beyond repair, with a distorted and evil mind. But the author's portrayal of Hikari as a pure and angelic being is a poorly done caricature. If his intention was to offer her as a counterpoint to Yami's “darkness”, there were other ways to make a believable character without falling into ridicule. The two characters only serve as an example of poor narrative development.

In fairness, Hikari was irrational like once, Yami is almost always irrational

B/c she's a teenager who's worrying that showing negative emotions will turn him off. Hell, both Aya and Hikari tie themselves into knots over which emotions to show to Yuu.

Which to be fair, that anxiety spiral is irrational. Hiakri is being irrational by thinking she's irrational for showing she's upset and not calming down fast enough.

I'm not trying to attack Hikari's personality or anything, guys. I'm just commenting on where I think the author will take her character from what we've already seen, based on what I know of his style.
