Only way it could get worse there is if Yuu and Yami just go "huh...well guess she gave us her blessing!" and get back together
Hahaha tbf in this scenario, there is no way that would happen imo. Like if hikari does run out onto the rain or something yuu/yami or even both of them will def chase after hikari

Her internal narrative is "why can't this idiot intuit that his CF bothers me?"
"Did you want to go to school with her that badly?"

And then, drunk on the moment, I go and step on a landmine.

"......If I'd gotten in, I could've been your classmate too, Yami-senpai."
"......I see."

Yuu...
He took a moment, carefully picked his words, and managed to defuse the landmine I'd just stepped on.
So he doesn't fumble at all.

even though in the flashbacks he barely talked about Hikari during their interactions - this is something Aya spun up as a big deal/fixated on.
I can't just say, I don't care about that anymore, or It doesn't matter.
There's this lingering sense -- barely noticeable, but still there -- of his attachment to this person I've never even met.

At first, I used to pry. Asked him all kinds of questions, mostly just to tease him.
But now, I don't bring her up anymore.

Not her, not their time together, not even the middle school they went to or the rough area she lives in.
So she asked him a lot, and his monologue about his first love was a part of why they even became a couple. So yes, he told her a lot about Hikari.

I don't see the argument for how this wasn't a big deal in their relationship given how Maruto writes Aya as bothered by it.
Because he doesn't write it in every chapter, but only in one out of five, and even there she says "it's one of the reasons why I don't want to go back to school", instead you spin it like "she is so fixated she doesn't want to return to school (solely) because of Hikari".
Do I even need to spell it out? Yes, feeling jealous of your partner's first love is pretty commonplace, especially among teenagers and especially when they are really in love and not just together for physical intimacy. But it's not as big of a deal as you make it out in this case.

After the fight/discussion but before the slap /kiss?
Man, I have no idea where these afters and befores come from. All we've seen so far is Hikari witnessing the kiss and then Yami's internal monologue about kissing, Yuu and Hikari. Which is shown in parallel with the kiss and after it. It mentions the "taste of a kiss", so at the very least she is thinking that during the process.
Please don't invent your own order of events.

Tbh I'd just fucking dissapear if I were Hikari. Literally. Go back home in the midst of the rain, pack up some stuff, ask parents for some $$$ buy a new mobile chip, notify my parents about it, smash the old one with the sole of the shoe, and just pick the first train that came and ride it to the last stop. And just stay there for as long as it's possible. No explanations, nothing, to nobody. Not that they would've noticed when I'm gone lol, up until that dude fastened his belt back I'd already be on the train. They'd never see me again in their fucking lives, wondering why or searching shit won't bring me back.

I'd also get a haircut and dye my hair or smth, don't wanna be spotted.

That's my headcanon, rant over. This chapter did things to me.

That guy is lying and he’s is a prick, shiroi’s version is better than the conclusion of the chapter, hikari is too pure to be lied to like that, can’t really blame aya too

Watch author trying to justify Yuu's lies as an "attempt to save Hikari and Yami's friendship"
Lmao, the moment you think this shit can't get any worse
Author probably thinks he's cooking but he's better off being a part-timer at some fastfood shithole

Would you mind if I screenshot this and then remind everyone once your prediction fails?

Your quote is my point - she stopped using it as teasing material b/c it was making her think he loved Hikari (chapter 13.5 - she's 99.99% certain b/c he talked about her endlessly). I'd totally agree that it's no big deal jealousy if a year later she wasn't describing her prying as him endlessly talking about Hikari.

Please don't invent your own order of events.

I mean, I can see where you're coming from, and it seems the word "endlessly" is the reason. But again, if she was so fixated, we would see her being jealous in other chapters during their relationship. Instead, she just never mentions Hikari again.
I'd sum my view up as follows:
1. She knew he had a longing for Hikari
2. She broke up with him in such a way that, in her opinion, it'd be easy for him to move on
3. She knows how bright of a person Hikari is, and she heard a lot from Hikari about her blossoming relationship with her childhood friend. So once she learns that Hikari and Yuu are a thing + that Yuu has been in love with a girl "for a long time", she decides that he "moved on" back to liking Hikari, who she heard a lot about from him.

Like I acknowledge I was wrong, but it wasn't intentional.
Sorry if I got carried away again.

I think she says why though, that she decides it's not a safe "teasing" topic. We've endlessly discussed if/how Aya does not discuss/walks back uncomfortable topics w/ Yuu.

& I mostly agree w/ your view, I just think her thinking Yuu had a thing for Hikari played into/intertwined with all the other things she was insecure about & fundamentally it's that insecurity that's driving her self-destructiveness.
