It's also why it's Hikari who initiates the making up conversation.
It was him though, he was the one who sent the message.
Aya loves Hikari too but is making the selfish choice of choosing Yuu first & far as I can tell that was the OP's point.
No, their point was that she can't feel love at all.
I guarantee that Yami is entirely incapable of feeling love. Lust certainly, and need and dependence and a fleeting sense of satisfaction while she has a dick in her, but love? Not a chance. She's too selfish and dishonest for that.

His message just said "I'm sorry/it's all my fault", she's the one who pushed things to the "let's make up" stage. But also I kind of agree in that this arc is (hopefully) him growing up a bit and not waiting around for choices to be made for him.

No, their point was that she can't feel love at all.
B/c she's selfish, which like I also think what Aya feels towards Yuu is more the dopamine high love of having a toy that makes her feel better than a healthy love that treats him as a whole person. The constant deflection, the ghosting, the potentially blowing things up his relationship w/ Hikari by kissing him - Aya consistently chooses her own comfort/safety/feelings over Yuu.

And yeah I think this is all supposed to be strong parallel to her mother, who always chooses the men in her life over Aya. The tragedy of Aya falling into the same patterns that have made her life so miserable.

That's how you initiate making up when you're at fault: you apologize, say it was your fault, maybe some more words about it, and then you have to see whether the person you wronged forgives you or not.
what Aya feels towards Yuu is more the dopamine high love of having a toy that makes her feel better than a healthy love that treats him as a whole person
As early as chapter 26 she says she wants to become a girl who can stand beside Yuu. Do you adjust your personality and life situation to a toy?

The personality is part of the fantasy Aya is constructing - the carefree girl having a fling - b/c real Aya w/ a trash fire homelife isn't good enough for Yuu. If it was legit about what Yuu wanted, she'd be honest with him. As for her life, Aya only does what she wanted to do anyway.

then you have to see whether the person you wronged forgives you or not
At some point you also explicitly say that you want to make amends or otherwise clarify what youd like the next step to be -
Hikari finds his texts maddengly frustratingly maddeningly vague. That's why she wants him to come over and clarify.

I didn't mean that, I meant her trying to become more "normal".

She didn't reply to his messages at all. To me that would likely mean that the person didn't forgive me, and approaching them would feel like I'm intruding where I am not welcome.
Like, sure, his messages were frustrating for her, but how is he supposed to know what she is feeling, whether she wants to see him or not?

I meant her trying to become more "normal".
She doesn't really try though? She continues ditching school and being an absolute mystery to him and rejects all his "normal couple thing" suggestions. We're in her head - she never does anything for Yuu that makes her uncomfortable. All her internal antsyness is around things Yuu does for/because of her.

And she's not ending her parents marriage for him, she's doing it for herself - that's why she ghosts her old life (Yuu and Yuzuka) when she achieves that goal.

but how is he supposed to know what she is feeling, whether she wants to see him or not?
Ask? "Can we meet so I can explain?"

This was already proven wrong.
that's why she ghosts her old life (Yuu and Yuzuka) when she achieves that goal.
That's pure intellectual dishonesty. Both you and I know why she ghosted Yuu, but now you pretend she did it because she successfully achieved what she intended.
Ask? "Can we meet so I can explain?"
So write one more message after being ignored a few times?

? She's acting super spoiled and selfish during their movie date, and then coaxes Yuu into ditching dinner with his family (and has a soliloquy on how Yuu gives into her selfishness). Legit, when does Aya ever do anything for Yuu that makes her uncomfortable?

Both you and I know why she ghosted Yuu, but now you pretend she did it because she successfully achieved what she intended
I've always maintained that she was gonna find a reason to dump him - same as Yazuka thinking the relationship was doomed. If Aya had ghosted Yuu just b/c she didn't want to burden him, than she'd never have tested him by asking to move in together. And that's definitely not why she ghosted Yazuka given that Yazuka knew all the dirt. Instead, Aya's thinking about her new life/new beginning in 30.6 https://mangadex.org/chapter/9c1afab5-d853-4eb7-a199-767172e3ab5f/1

But circling back, my point was more that Aya didn't seek normal for Yuu b/c if she had then she wouldn't have pushed him out of the picture.

So write one more message after being ignored a few times?
Ya, b/c you're the person who screwed up and therefore deserve all the uncomfortableness?

This dude really doesn't know that Maruto Fumiaki's magnum opus, the author of this work, is literally THIS:
905bf11390e1e4882f260d1eb137c60694924def.png

Yes, that guy have just been raped by his ex crush, even though he's already engaged to another girl. And yes, with explicit sex scenes included —though they can be disabled in the All Ages version of the game.
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the KAZUSA NORMAL ROUTE in WHITE ALBUM 2: CODA. If this disgusted you, believe me, you'll NEVER want to touch White Album 2 ever in the life.
You guys definitely don't know what you're getting yourselves into, dudes. Best of all, even Ai Kamiya in Shikimori-san did more NTR than this cheap rip-off where there's never been any real NTR—except, oddly enough, for Hikari's actions during her arc.
Learn some new material.

Or at least if you're gonna larp as Maruto's Strongest Warrior™ at least cite some of his other works. Maybe that flop novel that plummeted sales after volume 6, that still was far more successful than WA2 ever was. Or that TV anime no one cares about. Or the other VNs that are completely irrelevant even to people who are into VNs.

You're just too deep into your cuckquean fantasies to even bother.

Ok, sorry then.
I disagree completely and I think this is a baseless assumption, but it wasn't an intellectual dishonesty.
Ya, b/c you're the person who screwed up and therefore deserve all the uncomfortableness?
So no matter how many times he tried reaching out, she is the one who's gonna be awarded for "taking the initiative" because he had sinned.

So she doesn't reject it after all.
Given that she's one who suggested the movie in the first place, it's kinda extra special selfish of her to change her mind after they've gotten there and paid for things. Then she plays spoiled pet in the theatre by distracting Yuu - which fine he might not mind, but that doesn't make it not selfish (what if he had actually wanted to see the movie?).

and I think this is a baseless assumption,
Why?

If Aya was going normal for Yuu, then she had months to get back w/ Yuu after things stabilized and before she knew Hikari liked him. She doesn't think he hates her; in her crash out she doesn't apologize for hurting him or ghosting, instead I think she basically lays out that the reasons that she didn't try to get back together is b/c she thinks he's in love w/ Hikari and doesn't care that much for her. Those are selfish reasons, not "I hurt Yuu so much and don't want to inflict more pain" reasons.

she is the one who's gonna be awarded for "taking the initiative" because he had sinned.
Not if he'd gone to her house like she was hoping.

Sorry for long delays between my replies, was busy this week.

Those are just details. They did go on normal dates.
If Aya was going normal for Yuu, then she had months to get back w/ Yuu after things stabilized and before she knew Hikari liked him.
The reason for her ghosting him was not "things were unstable at that moment", but rather her mom attempting suicide as a result of her actions. "Things stabilizing" doesn't negate the cause, and her mom didn't go back to how she used to be before.
she basically lays out that the reasons that she didn't try to get back together is b/c she thinks he's in love w/ Hikari
She didn't even mention Hikari when she got emotional, nor did she think about her.

Technically Hikari was mentioned in the novel, but only in context of "you knew I was attending the same school as Hikari"

Not if he'd gone to her house like she was hoping.
Well, yeah, if he read her mind.
Not to mention Hikari "taking the initiative" to come to his house was a result of their mothers agreeing behind their backs to force Hikari to go there.

I've mentioned Saekano several times in my comments. I even pointed out that the scene of Yami kissing Yuu in front of Hikari is a blatant copy of what Utaha did at the end of season 2 of the Saekano anime (the end of volume 7 of the light novel). Yet another one who, as usual, lacks reading comprehension. Typical.
But oh well, what can you expect from an Eriri fan who apparently still hasn't accepted the well-deserved defeat of your egocentric waifu?
that still was far more successful than WA2 ever was
For commercial success, look no further than Rent a Girlfriend, and I don't see you consuming that series.
Or that TV anime no one cares about
Engage Kiss?
You're just too deep into your cuckquean fantasies to even bother.
I wasn't the one who wrote a narrative where Hikari is shown to be excited and fascinated by the story of Yuu and Yami's tragic romance when he finally told her, something who Maruto never hid from the beginning, seeing as Yami's debut scene was her trying to kiss Hikari. If you don't like "cuckquean fantasies", why are you reading an author who always does works with this kind of plot and shows interest in similar works (like Shikimori)?
There are plenty of other shoujo works that better suit your tastes.
PS. And not, I am not a larper. I have followed Maruto´s career since I saw White Album 2 anime adaptation during its emission in 2013-2014.

Nah yami is perfect for him she's a dumb slut retarded hoe and he's a dumbass retard who hasn't learned anything
Learn what? Yuu didn't do anything wrong with Yami and Hikari, outside of chapters 36-38. Just because you don't like Yuu being Yami's BDSM submissive boyfriend doesn't mean you're right.
Maybe after they have a kid and she abuses the kid or she cheats on him with smooth talker he will learn his lesson lol
Another misandrist justifying Hikari physically attacking Yuu, it seems.
The same Hikari who was unable to lay a finger on the "dumb slut retarded hoe" in chapter 41 because she knew that unlike Yuu, Yami would strike back her without hesitation and was just waiting for an excuse to hit the cowardly Hikari.
At some point you also explicitly say that you want to make amends or otherwise clarify what youd like the next step to be -
Hikari finds his texts maddengly frustratingly maddeningly vague. That's why she wants him to come over and clarify.
We're ignoring again that Yuu did write that message at the end of chapter 44 about how he'd spoken with Haru and Yuki about the situation. As I said, you're proving our point that Yom has greatly harmed Yuu's character in the adaptation compared to the Web Novel Yuu. Anyway, Hikari simply telling him "come to my house, you're going to explain all this to me, I'm not going to forgive you so easily, I'll be waiting here for you" was more than enough.
Yuu, albeit clumsily, returned the ball to Hikari´s court.
I've always maintained that she was gonna find a reason to dump him - same as Yazuka thinking the relationship was doomed.
I already said that I've always have been in a middle ground between your positions and Genn's. That is, Yami did want to dump Yuu and distance herself from him, but he did everything he could to prevent it. That's why the mother's suicide attempt was necessary for Yami to really break up with Yuu.
That's why the symbol of their relationship is Yami taking Yuu's hand, but Yuu squeezes and holds it tight, preventing her from letting go, which brings us back to chapter 28. And as I said, it's logical that Yami will always prefer the more submissive and obedient Yuu to the more independent and prideful Hikari.
Not to mention Hikari "taking the initiative" to come to his house was a result of their mothers agreeing behind their backs to force Hikari to go there.
This only happened because Yuu sent his mother to mediate for him and extract from Hikari the promise that he would visit the Takamura House sooner rather than later.

Those are just details.
? Aya being selfish is the point I'm making, not whether they went on normal dates.

but rather her mom attempting suicide as a result of her actions
She wouldn't have asked him to live with her, a thing she was dead serious about, if it was just about her mom. It's a test of much he'd be willing to "reach out his hand", and therefore be someone she can trust to ride out the coming drama with. That's why she goes back to that metaphor when lamenting the break up. I know we've gone back and forth on this a lot, but like Maruto is mentioning it in his tweet b/c he's been fairly heavy handed w/ this metaphor throughout the novel.

She didn't even mention Hikari when she got emotional, nor did she think about her
She snarks about his happily ever w/ Hikari at the start of their encounter?

Not to mention Hikari "taking the initiative" to come to his house was a result of their mothers agreeing behind their backs to force Hikari to go there.
Every character in this manga has acknowledged how stubborn Hikari is and Hikari's mom has been written as reasonable. She absolutely had the option to not go or to drop off the grapes and bounce.

She made a decision that is very painful for her but she's still grasping at straws to find a loophole that will allow her to be with him. She follows it up with the line
This is fine......
No, this is what I decided from the start.
So why am I wavering now?
She is not a robot who makes a decision and follows it through, it's natural to have second thoughts when it's a decision that's gonna leave them both unhappy.
She snarks about his happily ever w/ Hikari at the start of their encounter?
"when she got emotional"

MTL of her thoughts from ch. 46:
She knows that "delivering something to the neighbor" is an errand I absolutely want to avoid right now.
But she also knows that I can't refuse my parents' request just because "it's awkward to go."

And she probably knows that Ta-kun can't pretend not to be home just because "it might be me who's coming"...

I mean if hikari is the mc its the good end that yu and senpai end together. Free and can have a decent human being by her side some day. So good ending for me if we follow this route

That's the thing though, if she's really selflessly giving everything up for her mom than there is no loophole. The loophole she's grasping for here is also the reason she's ghosting - she doesn't trust his commitment.

when it's a decision that's gonna leave them both unhappy.
Which speaks to her selfishness in deciding to ghost rather than have a conversation with Yuu about the situation. Months later and she still hasn't explained herself to Yuu, just yelled at him making it out to be his fault.

"when she got emotional"
/sigh, I wasn't clear here - by crash out I was referring to the whole reunion flame out. Yes she doesn't mention Hikari in the crash out crash out, but she mentions her in the lead up & thinks Yuu is in love w/ her back when she figures out Yuu is Hikari's crush.

Aya and Hikari are having parallel feelings - Aya thinks Yuu's love for Hikari means he can't commit deeply to her (Aya), while Hikari questions if Yuu can love her (Hikari) if he's in love with Aya.

MTL of her thoughts from ch. 46:

Sure but both her and Yuu are cognizant of her thoughts being just her being stubborn and that she's there b/c she wants to be:

But then, seeing my stubborn attitude, his shoulders shook slightly and he gave a wry laugh!

Yuu's been written as perceptive enough that he's not laughing at Hikari if he thinks she's been unwillingly coerced into making up w/ him.

But also, admittedly, this is probably the better example of her initiative:

He tries to wrap things up in a "nice" way.
But this isn't the resolution I want.

Just glossing over everything like this, pretending nothing happened, going back to being "just childhood friends."
That's not how it should be. It can't be.

Maybe I'll break things.
Maybe we'll lose everything.
But still, I have to...

She knows she can't move forward w/ him w/o having the "is his love for Aya a blocker?" discussion, despite it being a hard conversation.
