@hdmi1 Actually healthcare was my business before I retired and I never saw a doctor kill themselves to save a patient. I have seen quite a few engage in questionable billing practices and perform unneeded procedures but that's another issue
Maybe you can ask a few to see if they would trade their lives to save someone that just committed suicide? Most are rather numerate and even if they have a martyr complex can do the math
Stay alive: many people get to live > Sacrifice self: 1 stupid twisted person gets to live
@lorexen thanks for that I figured there was more.
Anyway I'm old and have seen more than my share of dead people so the reactions are likely different, but if immediate execution was the reality, I'd take my chances and run away anyway. If I knew the job had that clause I wouldn't take it. If I got forced into it the first thing I would do is prepare to escape.
The gods forcing this issue is even a bigger logical problem. People die every day. Just visit a morgue. If the saint* is forced to give her life for people near death just how did she last so long?
*saintess is a word but it's like nails on a blackboard. It's really hard to tolerate in a European setting because none of the Abrahamic religions use it. In an Asian setting it might be fine but she doesn't look like a Buddhist nun
