Ah, the ol' "I died to shitty betrayal and got sent back in time. Lets avoid that fate!" with a hint of "I was too serious in my past life, now I just kinda wanna do my own thing"?

WTH is this she commits suicide so the MC has to give her life to bring her back ?

The answer to that question is NO, HELL NO, SORRY BUT NO WAY, SUCKS TO BE HER.

@kawaii123456 The Bitchess wanted to kill the MC because she wanted "Lord Marel"for herself. She couldn't straight up have the MC killed due to the MC's position of Saintess, so she forced/tricked the MC into committing suicide by committing suicide herself. The MC had to use the life exchange spell to save the Princess because it's her job, and if she let the Princess die she would have been executed anyway for treason.

Now she is starting off her teenage years with her memories intact and a goal in mind to avoid being noticed by the royal family. Can she protect her identity? Will she be married off? Only time can tell
The answer is obvious: Nope x4. But oh well, I am still reading this manga.

Then you let her die and see if they are really willing to kill you over it

Do the math
Save princess = 100% chance of death
Don't save princess < 100% chance of death

There's an obvious winner here

From king's perspective
kill the saint look like an asshole, down a saint and a dauughter
punish the saint = still down a daughter but up 1reallygood healer and look like a wise and merciful king

Not quite as clear cut but still pretty good

I really have to ask are the two of you thinking about this or did you just have a gut reaction ?

@kawaii123456 I am glad you're not a medical professional, cause not one of them would just stand there a let a patient die if there was a way to save them.

the saintess* because this is being specifically named this here.. BUT the issue is, she is of commoner blood, she would be instantly executed. I'm about to release the web novel chapter 1 translation, which will explain some stuff but in the web novel it says:
To save a human's life on the edge of death, the gods chosen must sacrifice their lives with no exception.

incase the manga brings this up later.

Note: Saint is a none gender word, but they keep calling it that here... I might change to just saint for English reasons

@hdmi1 Actually healthcare was my business before I retired and I never saw a doctor kill themselves to save a patient. I have seen quite a few engage in questionable billing practices and perform unneeded procedures but that's another issue

Maybe you can ask a few to see if they would trade their lives to save someone that just committed suicide? Most are rather numerate and even if they have a martyr complex can do the math

Stay alive: many people get to live > Sacrifice self: 1 stupid twisted person gets to live

@lorexen thanks for that I figured there was more.

Anyway I'm old and have seen more than my share of dead people so the reactions are likely different, but if immediate execution was the reality, I'd take my chances and run away anyway. If I knew the job had that clause I wouldn't take it. If I got forced into it the first thing I would do is prepare to escape.

The gods forcing this issue is even a bigger logical problem. People die every day. Just visit a morgue. If the saint* is forced to give her life for people near death just how did she last so long?

*saintess is a word but it's like nails on a blackboard. It's really hard to tolerate in a European setting because none of the Abrahamic religions use it. In an Asian setting it might be fine but she doesn't look like a Buddhist nun

Greaaaaat a dumbass MC who sacrificed her life for the bitch that is in love with her own fiancé. Just one you think an MC can't get any stupider, lo and behold the dumbest one appeared!

killing herself to save a suicide... she deserved it....
and i dont just mean risking life and limb... straight up killing herself

also that plot is convoluted as hell the princess's plan banked on the mc saving her "to get the trash out of the way" or it would have been a legit suicide
which doesnt fit with the portrayed persona of a calculating narcissist bitch with a superiority complex...
i mean who would kill themselves to take out the trash?
harming yourself always implies that you are facing something that is at least as powerful as yourself....

Love the hate here. :v I'll add some to it:
Never before have I seen such a Japanese protagonist, that after gaining an edge over everyone else by having memories of a past life, she immediately decided to use her understanding of the era to be a "low-profile simpleton", rather than throw a punch back at someone who fooled her to kill herself.
Behold the Japanese, who fold themselves 3,000 times backwards just so they avoid conflict. Remarkable Japanese Spine.

The plot's a mess, this one seems rushed.

Even without the girl's scheme, you shouldn't be sacrificing yourself to save someone who threw away their own life. If they really wanted to die they'd just kill themselves again.

Oh boy i can already tell that marius or whatever his name is either killed the princess and was executed, or committed suicide, both of which would likely scrub his name from history.

@Solipsist : it is not being spineless when the ONLY possible outcomes of not backing down are slavery, death or being tortured to death.
There are times when avoiding attention is the best option, and revenge is all but an impossibility. The greater the disparity in resources the more likely you fall into one of those times. Royalty in a feudal society vs non-royalty is almost always a huge difference in resources, it means the entire society can be stacked against you even if your are the child of a high ranking noble.
