the not your body thing is strange.. the goddess(?) did say they were "freshly vacated".
it's probably going to be something like, these bodies died right before the souls went into this world, so the goddess chose these bodies for their souls. but what i'm hoping is that it's going to be like total recall, where the bodies were minions of the demon lord that volunteered to be used as vessels for the souls so they could achieve the demon lord's goals without arousing suspicion, or something like that
