Also, people are incredibly fucking gullible. We are in an era where you can access the truth at will with a digital device, yet all of the most prominent movements enabled by that digital device are all scams.

They didn't support it out of superstition but rather out of pure hatred because 90% of which accusations were poor people accusing rich people. The church officially declared multiple times that there wasn't such a thing as witches but when people find an excuse they can use to Lynch rich people that have exploited them they're going to use it.

Nah. They can get easily scared. But with just different method. Use the one they can't comprehend easily. Sure they used to see dead bodies and gory stuff, it's just because they can explain how that things happened. They would get scared about people living in the box (television), or a moving stone (a magnet).
