That what i also thought.

But maybe it's MC's current technical abilities that would be the limiting factor?

I mean, for a train, all you need is a track and an powerful engine which just moves forward.

For an Airship, you also need other stuff, like how to make the object float up and go down, or how to move an object without friction and at a stable balance, etc.

On another note, the distance is roughly 590 KM (367 Miles).
Unless the train that MC makes runs over 200 KM per hour (meaning atleast under 3 hours of travel time), it would take a long time for Liz to be able to commute between the two cities.
A bullet train (a Japan special), maybe?

is he seriously gonna make a train system between those two towns just to stay together in a party?
welp, talk about an overreaction.
though i'm more surprised he isn't going for planes.
i mean, sure those are quite a bit more more complex to make in real life, but this is a magic world with enchantments and golems and stuff. i think he could make a hovering box quite easily and adding a propulsion system is simple too.
the real question is how to pilot the thing. That single reason makes trains much more useful in this world, since it's single axis movement vs 2d (left right forward back) for cars, or 3d with planes, which would require training, and for miyabi himself to understand it (cars is prob doable, but planes have lots of factors because of stuff like roll, and it'd suck if they just magic away the difficulties of controlled flight)

Dude got what he deserved grabbing the catgirl’s hand without permission.
Do note that she is just fine if it is Miyabi's .

That said, this will kick off industrial revolution. Merchants would want to trade perishable goods like fish deep inland. The first ones will get huge profits due to cut travel time. This will drive down prices at more merchants are competing.

There will be a need for railroad transportation department and a dedicated railroad police. It will be like in Zemuria (trail series)
nono i think you have a point, he could create gauntlets that would protect his arms and have the ability to insert wooden slabs that he could then inscribe different formulas on it to be used for attacks. Then again it would depend on if he could inscribe things that arent directly touching his skin, how well he could inscribe things on the fly, how powerful can the inscribed stuff be (like if he combines wind and fire could he create a slab that would spit out a fire tornado perhaps?) the gauntlet would mainly be there to protect his hands and direct the power. Or oooh maybe he could do something like omyoujis where he could preinscribe formulas and only finish it just before throwing them?

… i want to try it out so bad now lol
Also possible a gun with unlimited ammo.

A train is the kind of thing I wish more Isekai would lean into. Introduce modern tech to the magical lands and make a god damn fortune.
And among modern tech, trains seem like the best fit. They’re old enough that they don’t seem out of place modern, and there’s numerous ways to make them make sense with other world systems.

Man, you got magic on your hand, why bother with trains (that or minimum build a functioning roman style roads), build jets, or something, heck build a space shuttle.
You're forgetting how insanely efficient trains are as transportation and Japan has mastered it.

I did an experiment with my brother where we found the road distance from Orlando, Florida, USA to New York, New York, USA and found the ETA by train, car, and plane. Did the same for a similar road distance route in Europe, and again in Japan.

USA and Europe had roughly equal Road to Train travel times with Planes being the much faster option. Japan's train was almost twice as fast as road travel and about a half hour to an hour slower than plane.

Trains are also much more efficient in terms of passengers/hour than Planes.

Given a 2-week travel time by carriage, which is ~30 miles/day, so ~420 miles between the two cities by carriage. A more direct route by train may cut off.... Let's say 20 miles for math's sake. Early steam trains could travel up to 50 mph under good conditions, so let's say it averages 40 mph, that's a 10-hour trip one way. If we go off modern Shinkansen speeds, that's between 160-200 mph, making it roughly a 2 hour trip between the cities, planes arent going to be needed for that short of a distance.

Did you know Romans had both the steam engine and rails? Sadly without a centrifugal governor (and some better casting tools) Steam trains were never made (or thought of) by them
I did not know that.

Everyone talking about trains and then I'm here feeling bad for Liz, Because its clear they are using / enticing her with that full scholarship after yet again someone putting her down. So that she is pinned to staying in the capital. So they can try and get Miyabi is make that his home as well.

I can guarantee there will be some road block / reason from the royals in the capital against the train idea.

i can't read it either, I know the first part of the smaller bubbles says "I can't really give you an answer unless I know the variables (i think?) in play". I have no idea if we were supposed to be able to read the super tiny text after that or its suppose to just be like him trailing off that we aren't suppose to focus on tho.
Probably the latter, haha.

Or perhaps the limiting factor is "Miyabi ain't exactly the brightest, he probably just didn't think of it."

Well, considering he was a single person and a office-drone type & a former corporate slave, who only moved between his office and home, i guess air travel is something he did the least, and instead relied mostly on public transport like train, which is what popped in his mind first.

I trust her.
Girl, she just used her money and contacts to manipulate the shit out of you so you'll change tracks to pursue a dream she wants you to rather than the one you've had your whole life. I wouldn't trust this woman to hold my drink for two seconds, much less anything else.

In a world with monster, flying seems more reliable than a train. Its way harder to introduce tho, hmm. Or maybe if its underground train but its a ridiculous amount of work needed. :worry:
In a world with FLYING monsters, airships and jets would be like flying coffins if dragons or other creatures puncture the balloon or get into a turbine.
