This was actually left out by the manga but in the Novel, he actually had contact with Athena previously.

In what was chapter 5 of this manga a moment before he got the death threats from the the Theive's Guild. He was called by Athena under an alias asking Streamer for help in regards to her friend(who is later revealed to be Lisa) where she was being falsely accused by her fiance and her step sister(who both have hooked up behind her back) and is in risk of being executed. Long story short Kanata/Streamer utilized his fanbase to help the situation which included the Princess and Saintess and they were able to first but a halt to the execution and later find evidence that the accuser was under mind control by her step sister and later banished and the engagement was cancelled.

Athena at the time was already a light believer in Streamer but she turned into a full on fanatic afterwards and Lisa who never cared about streamer then had gone a 180 degree turn and became a fanatic.

It was a shame the manga cut this out because in the Novel, this was a subplot that was building up for a while.
