Maybe if we'd seen Yui's backstory prior I would be more conflicted, but to show us how tragic her life was before reincarnation after everything else just feels cheap. The entire arc showed she wasnt evil right from the start when she ran into the water to save the drowning kid(which clued Silkie in on Yui being not evil). Then again when showing in the past she saved that other kid from getting run over.

It was Zombie, the other personality, just protecting her the entire time. Yui was always shown not to be the one doing it.

Cant really be "last minute" if it was from the start of the arc (and the fact we knew there were two personalities from when Yui and Zombie were first shown during the "heroes" meeting too)

author choose the less risky route, to have zombie pay for the innocent lives on that island while at the same time not letting the MC took her life.

Yui and Zombie were sliced in half in a flashback and survived so I am still unsure if they were really killed here(though them having a personal internal goodbye together makes it feel like its for real) but if so then Yui's death, jumping in front of an attack, is a fitting end since she's done that a few times before.

And yeah, of course the sister was ready to jump in. No way she'd let her sibling die with how obsessive she is with Silkie.

this time all zombies that are nearby are dead, since they are on an island, she send all zombies on the island to kill the mc and the others, and 'zombie' (the skill) from what we know probably is a hive mind, since all of them are dead she probably also died there since 'zombie' is not able to survive without a host, that probably means that zombie is dead. and probably the last time 'zombie' recovered yui's body by stitching the pieces together (since yui is also turned). so she is probably dead
