That shop owner is going senile and/or blind to not see the slave collar or that she's a different race incapable of having children with humans (according to the slave trader anyways). It's a nice sentiment though.

Children aside (tho adoption is a thing, i'd assume, if not from a previous marriage) it was mentioned that rich nobles buy slaves who are widowers buy them as a second wife for inheritance so it's possible to marry slaves i suppose

Although it is an interesting lore bit that they wouldnt be able to crossbreed considering mixed races of beastkin would be common in other fantasy stories (or maybe the author just didn't wanna have michio spend money on contraceptives either)

Ok I am confused.

In Chapter 4, it was mentioned that Humans can't have children with women of other races.

So, how did the Shopkeeper in this chapter mistake that they were there to buy clothes for a child, and those two were married? (even if we consider it as business flattering)

I mean, a key aspect of marriage is always to continue the bloodline, and if you know you can't have kids, why would any marry someone? (especially in such an old era setting)

This point was also heavily focused in the Anime adaptation with how MC was shown to have had sex with a Human Woman from the first village and years later when he returns, he finds that Woman had given birth to a child, and the Anime heavily hints that the child might be MC's.
