Well yea, this is a gooner manga with plot. What did you expect? But aside from that, her not inclined towards teamwork is an assumption made by Roxanne. If you see what the MC noticed, she was clever enough to read the room and tried to act accordingly. Not to mention, she's beastkin. It seems like they have good capabilities for combat due to better physicality and reflexes. Also, MC noticed that she was the hidden gem that the slave seller was trying to keep hidden. MC isn't here for your run of the mill combat slave, he wants special ones that he can help cultivate since he's able to see stats and jobs and work the requirements that others are not able to, effectively making it a non-issue for what jobs they have.

um...no? he came cuz he wanted another Body for the party. i think there's been 10 chapters since he has been thinking of adding another member. Sure she might not understand the language and wants to use that to get a discount at first. BUT. she is a Beastkin. Like Roxanne, they are stronger then humans. Since he got her motivated with fish food once a week, he will have someone willing to fight. Sure she is "the cutest one there" too. Hence why he is trying to get her. She is the full package in his eyes: cute/beauty, willing to fight, Strong Species/Race. it's that simple.

The anime was weird. It basically followed the manga story until Sherry is introduced in the second last episode, then jumps to when he has five girls.

Look, if you were in Michio's shoes and buying a slave for your combat party. . . you'd get one that followed certain functions. Michio's predilection is pretty obvious to Sherry and Roxanne.

1. Girl must be pretty/attractive to him. (Catgirl is one of the prettier members for sale)
2. Girl has some interesting stats/exotic. (Diver is her racial class, also Catgirl Beastkin)
3. Girl must be able to work with them. (See all the arguments above on how she is willing to follow the crowd)

Neither Sherry or Roxanne find her awful, and Michio doesn't have issues, so all that remains is price. Haggle down to as cheap as you can. Get Catgirl if the price is right.
