The system in this manga is D&D probably fifth edition. Which only have 20 levels.
Being an old fossil, my D&D days happened untold years ago, and we never even talked about editions. I seem to recall there were over 30 levels, although we never played anywhere near the top. But yeah, even so leveling up was an arduous process. The source of my amusement was mainly that in a typical isekai the game background is some random Japanese RPG (MMO) where levels (and stats) seemingly can be in the hundreds, even thousands.

That looks like an odd way to show damage.

I thought that was the Shield spell at first, though that's assuming Magic Bolt is the same as Magic Missile. There is a Magic Bolt spell, but that requires an attack roll, which Magic Missile doesn't, and this was described as not needing one. Well, it's not exactly D&D here.

But you don't need to level up to level 4 to get 3 level 1 classes. You start with a level 1 class at level 1.

He chose the TWO classes known for being glass cannons....
Well, he is the ultimate glass cannon himself anyway.

The low, very much single digit levels make this quite funny. Not really something you'd usually see in isekai manga. But of course with the MC limited to 1HP, he would be screwed against any opponent of a significant level difference, in a face to face fight.
Yeah, I like that it's a low-level campaign. It's so fresh compared to what you otherwise see. So standard with end-game characters ready to curbstomp the extra boss after the final boss.

Why not choose a class that can grant temp HP?
Probably won't work.

From what I've seen, it doesn't really follow any system exactly, so it can probably fit into several editions.

And then you have Disgaea.

Yukito did not have the Monk class before, so Sado started thinking about all scenarios in which he could have obtained this new class. (Level up then cheat when he realizes Yukito's still at the same level)

Yeah, I got the impression that he got a look on the classes he actually had, so it didn't make sense, but it was just a cut-in info panel.

so how does it feel to read a Isekai that uses D&D level/Job class mechanics compared to the ones that use JRPG(MMO) ones?

its due to the evil goddess (the one who summoned yukito) blessing/curse, it nullify any HP bonuses that he could gain from class, skills, magics or items. moreover, it set his HP limit to 1. in turn, i believe his dice roll(luck) improved significantly plus he had access to the World (Gamemaster) Book after he stole it from that evil goddes.

Generally, no real difference, except here there's a feeling of, "hey, I actually know this stuff." You know, before they explain everything anyway. And that it's not exactly the same, but still much closer than, say, most Japanese fantasy authors get Medieval Europe.

Considering the existence of negative levels, amongst other advanced mechanics, it might be based more so on earlier editions. Hell, maybe even pathfinders

A few chapters ago there was a discussion on the death and resurrection rules, and those matched up pretty much 1-to-1 with Pathfinder 1st edition. They were definitely not 5e's rules, and I recall them being significantly different than 3.5e's as well (which would have been the closest system with all these excessive skill ranks).

I am specifically reading this one because I enjoy watching the MC min/max these old Pathfinder rules. I find that it adds a bit more structure than the more generic "let's just pull RPG mechanics out of our ass" stories.

Another similar story (which doesn't have a manga sadly) is "Magic User: Reborn in Another World as a Max Level Wizard". That one only keeps the D&D spell lists/spells per day mechanics and adds a weird critical failure rule, so the joy there is watching the MC bounce off of all the other magic users who are using a JRPG casting system instead.

He can't have higher than 1hp no matter the class so why not focus on power output?
or wear unlimited amount of amulets. This battle is like the Overlord best battle: Momonga vs Shalltear Bloodfallen.

Ok so why didnt he just fucking stab the dudes neck when he jumped him
He could have killed him 30 times already but instead he choses to duke it out
Whatever man
Plot hole of the author. Author thinking he can milk money by stretching the battle.

Advice: skip these for a year for better plot.

Tell me you have absolutely zero clue how D&D combat works without telling me.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
This is a fantasy world with game elements like every isekai ever
If he slits that dudes throat hes fucking dead stats dont matter
At no point has this story restricted itself to accurately follow the games rules and structure so why the fuck would it do so now
