well he has been ruling for like 100 years? If anything i'm surprised he hasn't gotten bored versus just torturing ppl if not worrying about the kingdom running out of food/supplies but i guess the slaves worked farms and stuff before they escaped

That knight commander is disgusted form the treatment of the royal family but the slaves suffered much worse for longer and is almost werid to see that as the atrocity it is in the empire.
Now I'm just confused about one small thing...if every female born if enslaved at 10 and sent in the inner chambers where only the emperor have access...is that incest chamber? I hope the manga was simply lacking the detail and it meant he makes his daughters personal maids and the wives are the most beautiful girls in the empire or noble ladies from loyal families, it doesn't make it better, but the alternative is super inbreeding.
