i think it's not a nation per se but heroes and great mages of the past since it's told that people who uses magic also absorbs the mana around them thus the spirit getting fucked, and now the heroes that were summoned recently are using magic too fucking much.
basically the more you uses magic in an area where spirits are densely-populated, the more black spirits are generated since they got their essence sucked off. at least that's what i get from binge-reading this lol

I was just thinking about how Fehu can mean quite a few different things, depending upon context.

I mean (and just as an example), you might use Ansuz for victory... but it can also dedicate the task (often a field of battle) to the Allfather... which can mean you won't let a single enemy return alive, or that you will totally dominate the opponents in a massive way....

It's very subjective; Fehu can be great for farming, or for great merchant success... or for going viking and looting the shit out of your target.

Sounds like what I said "reasonably be extended to".

Vikings (like Japanese) were all about the allusions and the kennings. "You gotta read the room and the context, or you won't get it."

But the main tiebreaker for me is that "fä" is still a word in Swedish for cattle (it only barely lives on in the current language in words like "fähus" - "a small building for cattle associated with a small farm" but it is there)
