I think the short life stuff only applies to their former lives in Japan

The remaining life span they would have had in the previous world is converted to special perks in the other world (abilities, items, etc).
The MC, Jean, had a long life still ahead of him so he got a massive amount of perks compared to the ones they called "heroes" (his sister and her 2 friends (I'm assuming the puppet is being confused as the 4th hero)), who were summoned just shy of their deaths.
