so you're telling me that the only way to get to Antrim (from MC's kingdom) is through a thin cliff side road where only 2 people can walk side by side? how exactly did they manage to conquer it to begin with? it sounds like it's extremely easy to defend from that side and how have they manage to hold onto it if it's that hard to move an army there? is it equally hard to get there from the other side?

Nukes can be disarmed. And she’s really the strongest creature known thus far. The world is a pretty big place. People like Esdeath and Mereoleona, who are even on a even higher broken level, lost in extremely rare circumstances that were unfavorable to them because they were specifically targeted and isolated (and their overconfidence had a role as well). Although I’m not sure the story will go that dark, she might just stay untouchable as a running gag. I was just wondering what would happen if Balud ‘won’ a match by disarming or the like.

if the person which King appointed killed, they can (somewhat) blame King decision and provoke citizen for it (Balud already famous among citizen) ...
also they plan to scapegoat that Noble (in Ch 46) for Balud accident too ...

@sherrynity Not in Japan. Japan is "guilty until proven innocent." As are pretty much any medieval system except post-Magna Carta England. Admittedly, for nobles it probably is innocent until proven guilty.

I'd argue that a peaceful and harmonious kingdom with zero political intrigue would have been... too simple. There are always going to be fools, ambitions, and dissenters.

If the king didn't send Balud to that remote territory, we would have just been stuck with the school setting for a while longer (not sure if you'd like that). And of course, it's perhaps within the king's schemes that dissenters would rise up to the opportunity. Balud has shown much promise and after fixing foreign relations, he might just fix a border territory while putting some rowdy nobles in their place.

I think the villains' plot seems not bad. Zero risk for the dissenters - the main villains. Of course, the desperate baron would be a victim in all this whether the plot succeeds or not. I wouldn't call him a villain tho - he's just a fool - a scapegoat.

Considering Seilurn explicitly stated she's fine with being the 'first wife', and recognizes that this is probably going to be a polygamous marriage ("...other women who we can work together with will be necessary"), I think 'cheating' in this case would be Balud screwing or bringing in another woman without consulting Seilurn about it. In that kind of setup, it's not the fucking that would be the cheating, it's the betrayal of trust by doing it behind her back that would be the cheating.

I admit, I really didn't expect Balud to marry the maid. Class difference, 'first girl always loses syndrome', and the fact she didn't have fluffy ears all made it seem unlikely. But holy shit, it happened. And I'm DOWN to see where this goes. Anyone want to make bets on how long it takes Selina to become Balud's second wife or concubine?

What's very interesting is that Seilurn's commoner status, and her being the first wife, are going to absolutely nuke any attempt to corral Balud with a political marriage. If Seilurn is the 'first wife', then any nobleman's daughter or even princess who may end up in his harem can get shut down hard with "you're lower on the totem pole than a maid, so why should I bother listening?"

All of you guys complaining about scheming nobles needs to chill. The manga takes place in a feudal setting, it'll be weirder if there aren't any scheming nobles. Plus, the MC's kingdom isn't an Absolute Monarchy. So the king's vassals conspiring against him and the MC makes sense. There are a lot of example in world history where the nobility in a kingdom actively conspire against their king in the Medieval era. England and France comes to mind.

You're right, but it's more that we're just tired of Evil Isekai Nobles^TM. This series executes them better (and somewhat more realistically) than most, but it's a concept that's been played out for cheap drama too many times. I'd love to see some nobles that were actually competently scheming, and not just lining up like bowling pins for the MC to fuck them over.
