If I'm getting this right, Shiori and Tsumugi are Sou's paternal-side cousins since their mom is her dad's older sister. But the way they talk to Nozomu is a little too... distant, I forgot already if this was stated in earlier chapters, but I wonder if Nozomu is Sou's cousin from her mother's side?

Well, it was the middle left panel on page 15. It's pretty much copy and pasted from that one scene in JoJo Part 3 where Joseph looks at Dio through the T.V., but he turns around with that exact pose.

The reason Tsumugi and Shiori felt distant might be because they are older.
As someone who only gets to meet my cousins at most once a year, I felt more awkward meeting them as I get older. Unlike kids who are more shameless about bothering people, the older I am the more I felt like I had to be careful before opening up to them.

Nozomu's dad, Sou's dad and Shiori's mom all being siblings is very possible. As is the simple reason they're just older cousins.

The reason I wondered if Nozomu is a maternal-side cousin of Sou, was because of how distant Shiori and Tsumugi were to him, which would be highly likely if they were Sou's cousins on different sides of her family, making Shiori and her brother just "cousins of my cousin" or "cousin-in-law" for Nozomu. I'm not close with any of my cousin's cousins on the other side of their family, who are basically strangers to me and technically not among my blood related relatives.

But if the pre-serialization is canon, then they're all blood-related relatives on Sou's paternal side and it would be as you say.
