Hard to say if being immortal or live a long life is a gift or curse.
Often times, children is supposed to grow up and outlive their parents but the reverse is true as well.
Parents watch their children pass away due accident or diseases, whether they did their farewell in time or not. Vice versa.
We can hope that fate is fair to us people, religiously or not.

I get why she'd leave eventually, but it's funny that she'd leave right now. After all, part of the "curse" being a blessing was knowing about it + training how to use it, which she'd probably need the mage's guild's help for. So it seems kinda goofy to have this goodbye when they're probably gonna meet again when she commutes back to town to go to the guild, when she could just stay with them while training up.

Or, alternately, she could just go back to the forest and end up exploding/causing misfortune because she decided that finding out she needed training, and then leaving before she got it, would be a good idea.

Alone is more a curse on it self, only if the immortal got another immortal companion or s/he got steel mentality then the journey wont break their feeling...
