My biggest issue with this story is how quickly he forgives them just because they trembled a bit, but from what you're describing, seems like the LN addresses everything wrong with this manga and does much more! Why did the mangaka choose to butcher the script!?

Yeah, not even on the "alternate" sites. IIRC chapter 13 was a one-off posted by a guy trying to get anyone else to pick it up.

There's a Manga Recap on YouTube that's just over an hour long that I just found today. I haven't listened to it yet to see if it's complete or also just goes through 13. I did a quick scan of the comments and couldn't tell.
