Everyone in this manga except the three recently-introduced dudes are absolute braindead imbeciles.

I can't decide if Kotaro or the Tryhard Trio are the bigger idiots, but I foresee this series going absolutely nowhere until further notice just on the basis that no one is listening to one another, the Trio are complete cowards, the MC has fewer braincells than a mayfly, and all the secondary/tertiary heroines are simply there as intermittent foils to the Main Three.

And it's extra weird with these 'story chapters' because at least when he's failing challenges the Three impose on him they tend to strip or otherwise get phsyical and fulfill the Fan Service angle of the manga - but here there's not even that, and the author's pretending there's plot when the end of the chapter just resets the narrative back to the nothing it's been up to now.

Guess I'll check back in once ~20 chapters go by and see if anything changes.

I'd agree with this more if the author didn't keep putting chapters like this in that hint at narrative progression only to pull the rug out and reset everything to before the chapter's events.

Just make the manga a series of silly dumb contests with fan service - no actual or hinted-at progression in their relationships, or this constant introduction of new characters that muddy those relationships and spark jealousy of some hypothetical future status that is never actually going to transpire.
