With all of these "Oh, I accidentally turned her into my slave and I don't know how to undo that, and there's this pesky absolute obedience function" stories, I don't see why the "owner" doesn't give them an order along the lines of "From now on, don't treat anything I say as an absolute order, unless it is in the format of 'As your master I order you, (insert name here) to (insert action here)', for anything else, exercise your own free will as to whether or not to do what I say". It leaves the "owner" the ability to order them if they get mind controlled or something (I've seen that plot device several times), but otherwise, the absolute obedience function won't interfere with their lives at all.
