My thought is that she's from earth (of some variety or value of "Earth"), possibly from Japan (I've even met Japanese Jews named Cohen), and that Rokk goes full psycho with the doll-parts, requiring Tohru to cut his arms off, and Cohen-chan has to build him new ones.
Also Aluminum is the proper spelling, and it was changed years after its discovery so that British people would "sound smarter."
Literally, a different pronunciation for the "upper class," in the same way they intentionally pronounce native place-names, and require locals to speak English.
So fuck "al-yuu-mini-um;" it is Aluminum (or Bauxite; or "white iron").
