The problem is, literally almost all rich families in Asia send their kids to top unis in the west at the first possible opportunity. Even from a marriage standpoint, there's absolutely no way a family such as the shinomiyas would accept someone who isn't ivy league or Oxbridge educated.

I get that kaguya needs a reason to stay in Japan, but there are several better ways they could've gone about doing it

@UniqueUsernamesAreHard If Kaguya was a man then they would be all for sending her to an Ivy league college, but she isn't so they want to either a) get her married off right away (unlikely, the Shinomiyas are rich enough that a daughter who only has a highschool diploma might be embarrassing) or b) have her attend a university in Japan before marrying her off so she can be educated (but nottoo educated)
