It's actually good that she didn't actually confess yet. MC is still too mentally childish to understand male-female love, so her confession was bound to fail.

Well it's really difficult to confess to a boy who was made to think he is inferior for quite a while. He will tend to reject the idea of a romantic relationship just because he thinks he still needs to become better to deserve it. They will really have to convince him bit by bit that what he is doing is already something outstanding compared to what he is thinking as average.
