Absolutely everyone who says "don't read it if you don't like it" or its pretentious equivalents very much are looking for a reaction. What exactly do you think the purpose of saying that to someone is? Do you really think people don't know that? What kind of response are you looking for? "Oh I had no idea I didn't have to read this, thanks for informing me!"? Maybe you didn't intend to "trigger" me, but did you say it in good faith, expecting a positive response or to help? Doubt it. Every time you're irritated or dislike something, imagine some asshole speaking to you as if you're retarded and saying "you know you can leave if you want to".

@PeopsSplex
People who say that kind of thing are looking for a reaction, so I'm giving him one. Every time you express a negative opinion on the internet you get the same response from the same people. Whenever you yourself have a negative thought about something you see, imagine someone coming up to you and saying "you can leave if you don't like", "you don't have to be here", "We don't want to see your opinion", and it probably won't bug you the first, second or third time. But by the 10th, time, it'll start to annoy you, and you'll stop assuming it's being said in good faith, and more likely being said because people disagree with you and want you to stop talking where they can see you.

Yea, nice try but people expressing a negative opinion on something they dislike in a comment forum specifically meant for that != going up to someone specifically and saying something to annoy them & telling them to go away because they don't like what they think of a given chapter / series. Ironically what you've just said is exactly what I was bitching about. People are allowed to have positive opinions, but not negative ones. With your parody logic, no one should be able to say positive shit.

@Yautja sigh parody logic my ass thats not even what im trying to say.

im just saying that if you claim that you, by right of a commentator, to be able to say what express your opinion, without regards to that it might offend (or in your millenial word of choice; trigger) others, then other commentators also have the right to do so, even if their argument against you is the cliche 'don't like it don't read it' (it actually became valid argument because of how many time you have repeated that you hated the manga with passion)

now to the funny thing; you are at some point of your argument admitted and express some form of awareness that your opinion is negatively phrased. so you are aware that you really are risking offending other in the comment section by expressing your opinion, even when you didn't specifically address it to a specific person.

its like you're throwing fire randomly and when it hit people, you plead innocent because you don't target them specifically. and then claim they have not the right to throw their fire to you, just because now they're specifically targetting you.

now guess why they target you. hint; because of you being a cunt in the first place.

and you pointed out that the 'dont like it dont read it' is not a fair criticism compared to yours. guess what little shit, your comment aint a criticism a jack shit. its not even constructive to begin with. it really is just a opinionated hatred put on a fucking banner paraded from chapters to chapters.

But that is the result of your parody logic. If no one get's to say negative shit because people may dislike it, no one gets to say positive shit either. There's an analogy about cake that comes to mind...

What I'm saying is there's a difference between directing a comment at a person, specifically to annoy them, and saying something that may annoy people, to no one in particular. To tell people stupid shit like "you don't have to read it if you don't like it" is a pointless comment meant to garner a reaction from a specific person. To say "this is fucking stupid" is a negative opinion directed at no one, and just an expression of opinion. You don't see me starting fights with everyone who says something incredibly positive with no reason. Nor would you be attempting to justify it if I had, even if it annoyed me or was as unreasonable as you're trying to claim my opinion is. It very much isn't a "valid argument" because A) It's not an argument, B) You don't have to like something to read it and C) Liking something is not the only reason to read it.

Now that is an incredibly stupid observation. Every negative opinion on this website and anime communities in general garner negative attention, regardless of how loved or hated the series is. Don't actually try and pretend otherwise. And risking "offending" someone by expressing my opinion isn't my problem. Everything "risks offending someone", ironically, the guy seemingly bitching about millenials and their choices of words is behaving exactly like one. To reiterate what's been said to me when I say something people don't like "doN't ReAD iT mY CoMMenT iF yOu Don'T LiKE iT". Either ask why, state why you disagree or fuck off and ignore it; saying stupid cliches that amount to "go away, I dislike your opinion" are not only pointless, they're actively counter productive and meant to, and succeed in, starting bullshit like this.

Lmao, are you actually that sensitive? Saying something you dislike in the comment void is throwing fire? If stating a positive opinion on something isn't "throwing fire", neither is stating a negative. You don't get to have it both ways. That analogy is ridiculous and so off base. Are words violence now? If I say X unpopular thing on Twitter you're not only entitled to spam me all day long, but I'd be the asshole for telling you to fuck off? I'm "guilty" of something for having an opinion you dislike where you can see it? Man, if anyone is exhibiting "triggered millenial" attitude, it's fucking you right now.

No, it's because the anime community, and the internet and in general cannot handle unpopular or negative opinions unless they're extremely popular. Nice try though.

Where did I say that? I said:
to do away with opinions / positions you dislike because you have no way to counter them and can't stand comments that disagree with you.
and that's the only thing that I can see that I've said here that relates to that malformed straw-man, so guess what you "little shit", you can take your straw-man and try fuck it with your bullshit instead of me. And even if that straw-man was accurate, the logic doesn't follow, that's just an appeal to hypocrisy. What I did was point out that "don't read it if you don't like it" is a nonsense response regardless of the comment it's responding to. It's almost like I expressly said
People are allowed to have positive opinions, but not negative ones.

haaaaaaaaahh i really never state that anyone can say specific things

here's my stance; anyone can say whatever the fuck the want, be it negative, positive, neutral. and that include you. there are no problem of you expressing your disdain toward this manga.

the problem is that you're the one offended by the 'dont like it dont read it'. which is a tame and barely aggravating of a comment. thats not even an insult in the first place.

then there's you crying ouch ouch saying people can't handle a little word.

you hated the dontlikeitdontreadit because you said it end argument counter-productively.

thats basically saying you want to have the argument to last for whatever reason you had i dont even wanna guess.

you said whether or not people offended by your opinion is the least of your problem, right? the same goes with the people who directed the 'dont like it dont read it' to you. whether you are offended or not by it is the least of their problem. they came to you with the same attitude you've been carrying in the first place.

by this, what im trying to say is, if you really gonna tell others to not being a hypocrite, you should stop being one.

and you really think your (initial) comment is positive? or argumentatively productive?

by all mean, have your opinion about this manga is shit, and post it here in the comment section if you will. but have some self awareness and dont be contradictory.

No one is saying literally can or can't, but should or should not. What your position boils down to is "it's perfectly fine to say 'go away, I dislike your opinion because it's negative'", mine is that while yea, the rules allow it, you shouldn't because it's pointless and not what the comments are for. You're encouraging people to shut up those whom they disagree with by A) Using petty insults, B) Claiming I'm harming people or something to that effect, and C) Encouraging pointless arguments and D) Painting me as somehow in the wrong or that I shouldn't be speaking by saying I'm "Risk offending people by expressing my opinion." and that me saying something negative to no one is the same as going up to someone and saying something negative by likening it to "throwing fire".

No, I'm annoyed, not offended, that he's saying something stupid and substanceless. No one needs to be told that, and is repeatedly used to start arguments or dismiss negative opinions. Its only purpose is to tell people "I don't want you here but I'm not going to overtly say it".

Oh irony, the guy claiming I'm "throwing fire" and "risking offending" people is say I'm crying and going ouch. No, I'm saying I disagree with you and think you're full of shit. You're the one tossing insults around, not me. "little shit", "cunt ".

I said I hate it because it's pointless and is used to tell people to go away and not the purpose of the comments.

Where on Earth are you pulling that from? No, I literally don't want the argument to last, that's literally what I'm bitching about. People causing pointless arguments with that stupid and pointless cliche. If anyone is trying to start an argument it's you inserting yourself into this thread that didn't relate or address you, by mocking me. How on Earth am I the one perpetuating an argument when it was literally over before you decided to force your way in? Do tell that, and while you at it, do remind me how that straw-man of your is accurate because you seem to have forgotten about it.

No, because that comment is directed at me. Can you not read? @'ing and saying something to their face is not the same thing as putting an opinion out someone might disagree with. If he didn't @ me and didn't direct his comment at me I wouldn't care. If you actually think stating an opinion that someone may disagree with or get offended by is the same thing as going up to and directing such a comment at someone, speaking to you is more pointless than that stupid phrase is. Are you intentionally being this dense and dishonest or do you actually believe this "Risk offending people by expressing my opinion" and that I should censor myself because my opinion may not match with theirs bullshit? To take your bullshit fire analogy, if I'm at a basketball court and take a shot that hits someone, regardless of whether it's my fault or their fault, they're not entitled to throw the basketball at my face because I unintentionally hurt them.

Irony. Absolute irony. The guy bitching about me perpetuating arguments, when he literally inserted himself into this argument after it had ended, is calling me a hypocrite. The guy who still doesn't understand the difference between directing a comment at someone and not doing so. The guy who started tossing insults while simultaneously chastising me for expressing an opinion that may offend others. Man, a hypocrite calling me a hypocrite because he doesn't understand what I'm saying or is trolling, how ironic.

The purpose of the comment section is to express opinions about the chapter. The purpose is not to tell people "go away I dislike your opinion". So yea, it is productive in the sense that I used the comment section for its intended purpose and neither he nor you did by starting an unrelated argument.

Again, irony. Just because you don't understand what I'm saying does not mean I'm being contradictory.

@Amplifae Agreed. All that time wasted on a manga that he wont remember in 2 years.

And the more chapters I read the more I am convinced that Ruka is a shitty character. And I can't understand her fans.
