the sensei swordmanship is something build to fight against human opponent

while the adventurer need to fight horde
es of monsters (or adapt on the fly) plus potential backstab from other adventurers, and also environment adaptation and supply management (if long term dungeon explorer)

which wouldn't be out of place if sensei got overwhelming advantage here, but can't measure much for his survival skill

I understand your point, but the guy's job is to guarantee everything is above board, and it isn't like he demeaned or insulted him.

And it isn't like just because Slena is black rank that there isn't the chance that her judgment may be wrong, we sure know it isn't, but he has to think about the possibilities, I prefer people like him in a position like his.

TBF, at this point they only care about his strength. If he can hold off a monster or two or keep the newbies backs secure and not immediately die himself. Everything to do with actual exploration and logistics will be presumably handled by adventurers and Lisandra herself
