it seems like unc's vision is the reason he's so down on himself. He can see what people can do to beat him so no matter how much he trains he won't be able to be completely gapless

From what I understood, he didn't flip it around. He was holding it properly with both hands, let it go, immediately caught it with his left hand in reverse grip then locked her remaining sword with his crossguard and press parry while at the same time catching her other sword with his right hand poised to strike. All the while she was off balance and confused first because of sudden disarm and then very hard block when he just only defended up until this point.

Honestly that is incredible and grounded display of skill if a bit showy. I really like it. In other manga/anime/lns they call some people swordmasters, but they are just brutes or lighting speed people just smashing their head in forcefully. This guy is genuinely ridiculously skilled
I think he does flip his sword.

So from the start of the disarm, it ends up with him apparently readying an overhead strike downward, and her stance broken and suddenly off balance. So she hastily switches from one-handed grip to a two-handed grip to better block/parry the incoming blow.

But he feints out of that overhead strike into the sword flip which stuns her for a second due to the unexpected action, letting him lock her sword in place and grab the other sword and pin her while she's confused for that split second.

i am forever salty that this absolutely badass fight finisher got simplified in the anime. It's rare to see someone using the sword for its every parts. The guard might as well not exist in anime swords. But here, using the guard to trap the enemy's blade is fucking chef kiss

not to mention, i really hope they will bring up Slena's story of killing the immortal dragon later in the anime. That story solidifies Slena's canon strength in the story for me. You can have 10 people saying that she's strong and i wouldn't believe it, but tell me that she solo-ed a regenerating dragon to the point it exhaust itself from blood loss, you know she's out of this world

The anime really fucked up this fight and the one with Lucy. It also ruins the pacing....

I’m gonna guess that he got scared when he was younger, so he spent his days training instead. Unbeknownst to him, it just made him stronger.

I still don't get how this guy managed to get so strong. Nothing about him or anything we have seen about him suggests he was trained in a special way or anything, but he's somehow the ultimate badass who can do anything because the plot demands it.

I'm really glad that the assistant with glasses isn't a massive douche. He had legitimate concerns about sending Uncle into the dungeon and when he saw Uncle had the skills, he supported Uncle going into the dungeon. No sore loser, no sour grapes, just professional. It's refreshing to see that.

You know what, I still can't swallow the premise that this guy is THIS FUCKING GOOD and yet somehow not only does he have no confidence in himself (despite apparently never losing to anyone?) but nobody came around to tell him "dude you're fucking OP" before he hit middle age (which given his looks just means he's in his thirties, but whatever). Man's raised children, plural, who are now full adults. So far this is like the S ranked adventurer's dad manga but worse in every respect.
