Is? Where the hell do you live if it's still like that? All of that happened so many generations ago that you probably can't even trace your family line that far back. Of course still today there are crooked church employees, but that's only natural since they are humans as well. You can take any random people of any profession and background from the streets and statistically a certain portion of them will be criminal. In fact this very site of Mangadex is based on copyright infringement, which is criminal, so all of us are happy crooks as well.

the guy is tired that the church is portrayed as evil in a fantasy of equal standing with Medieval times from our history and i responded WHY the church would be seen as such in those times, under that type of regime and circumstances.

Now, as for today. the church doesn't have the same power as 500 years ago. though, in rural areas they still have a certain status of value. And yes, i'm from a Orthodox country, and it's as crooked as it can be. We had a vote a few years ago on if we should legalize same sex marriages AND a Homosexual priest, who is the pastor in the village where my grandparents live, had to preach in his church sermon, at the mass to the people to vote against legalizing same sex marriage. Poor bastard had to put his "job" over his partner. Then there's how when the current Patriarch(highest position in the church) was appointed to said office, he was near anorexic levels of skinny, yet within 2 years, he go fat as a hog. what you doing? stuffing your face all day?

as for the site, we being crooks, sure. i'll be a crook when i can't own the physical copy. not to mention that certain publisher translations are objectively worse then fanmade~
