I also think they mispelled it as 'berly' in one panel ;_;

That said the manga is really different from the ln, like extremely. I wonder how common that is...
Damn really? The manga is really good how is the ln

This is quite interesting in that its completely different from the light novel, fledora did not exist and faeutus was far more antagonistic from the get go and did not help Fissel at all for her classes and beryl never sparred with the student, only against Fissel as a demo of the peak.

I really enjoy this. I like that they can make each character interesting without making them all antagonistic against our old man.

Knowing that he already fought the old hag loli principal and she actually didn't win, i do not think that he would fare badly against the vice principal at all
It has been some time since I read that, but wasn't it a draw? Like they could both keep fighting but they stopped because the loli was just testing him?

Also, I don't think he is going to win against the old man wizard guy, my guess it that they are going to draw too, if he wins then it could discourage people from learning magic at all tho.

I am looking forward to his match against Faust :meguupog:
(Martial arts vs Magic is cool)
Beryl had fought Lucy as an equal. Unless rule are biased to oneside (like single hit of any as in this case, where ember-filled gust would overwhelm him), I think Beryl would have a solid win, especially when the vp never see his fights before.

But, I'm very interesting in the teaching competition. On one side, we have a solid record of backwater swordmaster who teach two top sword women in the kingdom. On the other hand, we have someone that prideful Lucy second herself too in field of teaching.

Not that common, but it happens. Good example is https://mangadex.org/title/345d29ab...u-to-yuusha-no-tatakai-no-ura-de?tab=chapters
Not only the manga makes the characters actually look their ages, it also tones down the "sasuga Verner-sama" and the constant explanation of even the simplest concepts/ideas. Yeah, the WN/LN can spend a good half of the chapter on something as simple as lower ranking nobles having less power than a higher ranking ones.
It also fixes quite a lot of pacing issues, makes character interaction more natural and the art is just gorgeous.
And if you want a more drastic rewrite of the WN then https://mangadex.org/title/478e6926-b8bc-465c-9694-2bae1dbaf32b/latna-saga-survival-of-a-sword-king is a great example.

I really enjoy when he is in his teaching element. I think that is why the story is so great, he is true to his character as written. Loves the blade, loves to guide and teach. Sure it is rooted in his own self worth and how he would never believe he is that strong. That said, the flashes of brilliance for him are in teaching and when it comes to protecting another. Always so hype. Pain to have to wait, but I cannot wait for this next fight. Cheers everyone, TY for the TL!!!

having seen so much proper sword fighting in this manga, it's pretty odd that they do the typical "sword is heavy" trope lol
In real life, swords are actually pretty light, usually only 1-2 kg, maybe 3 or 4 at most. But even on the heavier side, the center of gravity is meant to be around the guard, so it's close to your hand and becomes easier to maneuver.
Sure, they are noble kids and might not be used to it, but i doubt any healthy teenager would have trouble even lifting a sword
