Man that's kind of sad.

So her only form of experiences with spirits are of hellish monsters.

That may explain why she got confused before on the hanged person chap, even though she has seen spirits all her life.

To her, spirits are only weird monsters, not people.

It’s likely that whenever they go, they don’t see anybody so they’re freak out/scared since it’s a ghost and all

It could be mislead and they're referring to another room with a (still living) mother who lost her baby.

We never saw the room number Kaya entered. She only followed the ghost baby.

They're talking about the ghost. Mothers die in childbirth all the time, not all become ghosts. This one did because she'd lost the baby before passing away (that's the ghost's primary obsession). The nurses sort of know this and they wonder if this ghost wouldn't have existed if the baby had been born healthy.

BTW, where is this story in the timeline? How come Kaya's mom is still normal? Or is it how she sounds and looks to normal people and only the psychics get the dead stare and mojibake dialogue? From dad's previous dialogues I was under the impression that even normies like him could sense something's wrong.
