Great chapter, I first tought it was a flashback but considering the letter, it must not be.

Nope the chapter title is a lie. Hospitals are very scary indeed.

Thanks for the translation.

Man that's kind of sad.

So her only form of experiences with spirits are of hellish monsters.

That may explain why she got confused before on the hanged person chap, even though she has seen spirits all her life.

To her, spirits are only weird monsters, not people.
Not all.
The ghost she purged when she made friends with Saku could be interpreted to not wanting young children to see it’s dead body and the sewer drain ghost simply wanted someone to find his body so his soul could be at peace.

Whew. I wonder if this isn't the first time we've seen a ghost 'vanish' of their own free will...? our gal might have stopped that woman from becoming a truly heartbreakingly scary ghost.

And that explains why the nurse was ignoring the signalling- it must have seemed like a glitch in the system.

It has to have something to do with the two crossed off names. I do like that its being established repeatedly that Kaya can't always tell the difference between the living and the spectres just like in Mieruko its those moments that she can't tell the difference as well that the stakes get raised.

Re-reading the series. Spoilers from chapter 42:
The longer a child stays in the cursed womb, the stronger it gets. Is that why she wants a possibly late, natural childbirth?

being able to vanish of your own free will is a positive in this dark chapter

The ghost lady didn't look like a spirit.
Maybe she saw but didn't notice because it takes time for the soul to start to decay.
Kaya doesn't have a supernatural sense on who is a ghost and who isn't. She didn't figure out that Mero-sensei was replaced by the mirror entity, nor did she notice when her dad was being impersonated until she saw her real dad. My bet is that Kaya isn't necessarily a psychic as Mob keeps pointing her out to be, I think that is a wrong conclusion that Mob came to. Her grandmother definitely is a psychic, as she seems to be able to sense things like how you'd assume psychics would. She even somehow brought everyone to their senses in the ward without touching anything. However, we've never seen Kaya exercise such powers. Kaya has always physically punched or attacked the entities. My hypothesis is that she's also an entity or at least is part entity, hence why she attacks entities rather than exorcises them, and why she seems to be very different than what her grandmother is like as a psychic.

I swear, that series started as a semi-comedy (lil girl beating ghosts One Punch Style) and now, it's truly turning to heartwrecking reality horror...

Were the ghost babies trying to coagulate with the normal spirit to form a bigger stronger spirit, kind of like the electric outlet ghost? That would be interesting.
