What you have to remember is that the average mental age of characters in fluffy romantic settings is 15.

They should just say “when we got married I was concerned wether I’d be good enough so I asked her to write it up that way if things didn’t work out we could divorce without worries”

Or something, I know they won’t but I feel like it could be explained pretty easily as a “just incase” thing that they won’t use. But tbf that would make the dude know he’s got a chance to make them divorce.

Given she’s thought she may like him they’ll likely instead be honest or half honest then be more “lovey-dovy” for real this time to dispel his concerns.

Usually if an art style changes in subtle ways, it could be either other hands were involved, not editors but assistance who have their own little touches to the smaller parts, or the artist themselves having finalized a style or is trying new things compared to the start now that its more "serialized".
